Hello,

I just started playing Daggerfall for the first time since the 90s and I can't seem to figure out how the stealth skill works. According to the guide, and control list, stealth is activated with a key like in the other Elder Scroll games. The thing is I don't have stealth on my list of bindings. I have done the usual fix (press every button until on the keyboard) but I can't seem to find any way to activate it.

This is what I'm looking at...

... There is no stealth skill anywhere on this map; and according to http://www. allgame .com/game.php?id=761&tab=controls stealth is neither crouch, or steal mode but is activated with the ALT key. I've rebound all my buttons to a custom layout; however, when it is set to default the ALT key is look around not anything resembling stealth.

Help would be appreciated... I feel like such a noob...

By the way, there is an issue posting images, and links on this forum so the photobucket address has a space after beta. and before .com.

If you are using the cursor to point where you go, Stealth mode requires the cursor to be a little bigger than not moving and smaller than full walking speed. Holding ALT is meant to do this, even though it does not appear in the key mapping.

However, if you are using Mouse View, where you look is where you go (like me), "Look Around" changes to "Sneak". I use CTRL for Sneak, SHIFT for Run, \ for Jump, so I know it works.

I also use M1 to move forward, M2 to swing weapon (and jump when moving) and M3 to activate objects like doors and chests.

What version of DF and DB build are you using? Those graphics look terrible. I'd recommend Ancestral Ghost's daggerfallsetup.exe (link via UESP) and Bloodbat's dosboxsvn build.

I can dig links up for you if you like, but Google should work.

Actually in Daggerfall the stealth skill is passively used, you have no need to activate in any way because it only affects the chance of being detected by enemies.
