I've fixed the issue by re-installing, but is there someone who knows what causes this bug? I'm curious. Everytime I tried to save the game it crashed. It started happening when I deleted some saves from the game folder.

You probably deleted something important by mistake. Just my guess.

Yeah that was probably it. Although I do get the occasional crash when saving now, it's not permanent.
