How do I play on a Virtual DOS machine?

Sat Dec 10, 2016 7:40 am

Hey, I'm new to the forums!
I was wandering how i can play Daggerfall on a Virtual Machine, not using DOSbox.

Thanks!

Daggerfall only runs on MS DOS, so assuming you've got that installed on your virtual machine, you'll just need the necessary game files and know how to install them with the proper command lines.

If you know how to use a virtual machine, you can use FreeDOS.

Why not use DOSbox though?

I would like to play through the original experience.

That would probably require getting authentic hardware from the mid-90s? Otherwise the virtual machine is no better than DOSBox.

In fact, DOSBox is recommended if you have a widescreen monitor, because I don't think VirtualBox for example supports aspect ratio correction, but DOSBox easily does that.
