I was wondering if it might be a good idea to have a sepate console section regarding bugs, etc? It seems a lot of questions get asked/posted and advice can't be given because we have to ask if they are on the PC or console, and it makes for unnessisarily long threads and takes up time, etc. Most play on the PC I think.

Just a thought.

I don't think there needs to be a seperate forum for consoles. People will sometimes say what they play on, but if they don't it just takes one post to ask them. Also, having a different forum for console users may lead to console wars, with console players wondering why the PC users get their own forums, and the xbox and PS3 users have to share.

Well, then add 2? I think it would be a nice thing to do for the console users. They would be assured they are getting the attention they need having thier own space(s).

I still don't think there's a need to make them though. If you did, it could still lead to console wars because where would topics not involving bugs go? If they went under the PC forum, it could still lead to console wars. Also, if you made a forum for Oblivion console users, wouldn't you also have to make a forum for Morrowind console users?

I dont see what difference it might add.
People will still get the same help no matter what Oblivion forum it is.

Yep, just because it takes one or two more posts to see if someone is on a console or PC, doesn't mean "advice can't be given because we have to ask if they are on the PC or console". And as Deandra said in the Child Forums thread:
Deandra wrote:
Yes, it might, but then it would also be more of a chore to check all of those forums for new posts, instead of just checking in one place to see what new topics are being posted in.
Ok let's pretend for a moment that I am a normal person who doesn't check these forums 10 times a day, and that it's been a whole day since the last time I checked for new posts. Instead of seeing that there are new posts in 4 forums, there are new posts in 12 forums. If all I care about is Oblivion, I've still got to click through 4 or 5 forums to see if there are any threads I care about, instead of just clicking once and seeing all relevant posts.

Another good reason:

Those of us that use PCs would be able to easily bypass console issues completly, which would be really, really nice.

More isn't always better, I think it's fine without a seperate section. Not like I have any say.

If someone posts a topic about a bug on a console, you could just ignore it. You don't have to post in a topic if you don't want to, so if someone has a console issue, just ignore it.

Why wouldn't you have any say? You have just as much say in this as anyone else.

people!!!

honestly

the only difference between the console and PC version of the game are MODS and console codes

its the same game people!!!!

please remember that

if you have a problem in one game you are going to have it in another

its the same game!!!!

I've yet to see the red ring of death on the PC.

I think he means threads like these, concerning X-Box Live, or other platform-related bugs (not necessarily gameplay related).

So, if you split it into PC and Console, where would all of the gameplay go? I think it is fine the way it is.

I don't think any new sub-forums should be added, even if it's an "How Awesome Ace Is" forum :P

A little late, but NO! Separate fora for pc and consoles would only make things more complicated. For example, I own morrowind for PC, and I own an xbox, if I come across a GOTY morrowind for xbox I will most likely buy it, so I would own morrowind for PC and xbox, and I would have to check both fora to ask for help or help others. So that means a definite no.
