What on earth was that about??

Daveh was online, no other mod visible, and all the posts in both General and the Ob forum, since lunchtime today (it's now 8pm here), have been deleted.

Yeah, I got another Critical Error, like earlier today. Then I was logged out and when I logged in my newest post had been deleted. :?

The posts deleted are the ones posted between the two crashes, I think.

I hadn't been aware of any crashes, I guess that must be it, though I'm puzzeled as to why all the posts got deleted.

It was everything from just after 1pm today till just before 8pm. They didn't seem to have anything wrong with them, I was trying to reply to the one about damaged Str at the time it was deleted.

I'm not sure what time, but earlier there was a critical error and the site was down for about 5-10 minutes.

What about Jeff's posts? :?

Jeff is an eNinja.

He can easily avoid botcleaners, and deteriorating self destruct agents. (1)

Strange, posts getting deleted left and right, maybe the noobs are angry about the urban dictionary topic.

They must have launched a counter attack. now all their posts and some of ours are getting deleted. Only joking of course.

It can't just be the forum resetting, can it? Because, as the eNinja (:P) told us, his posts aren't going away, and if it were a deteriorating self destruct agent... :? Why wouldn't it get Jeff's posts too?

I was able to hold off the attack, but there were a few casualties. I wasn't able to save everyone...

If you notice, replies were deleted, up to the ones that I made. That was because I left just before the issue happened, and didn't return until after it was done. It was a coincidink... or was it...

I switched the forums to use the new database server this afternoon. While we shouldn't have lost anything in the process it appears we may have (I'm not sure why). I'll look into it and make sure everything is working as it should now.

As for the missing posts...I could try and get them back but the effort may not be worth it.

The "cannot connect error" is something to do with a connection limit on the new DB which I have to find and fix.

Same with King: Oooh! blue coins!! Honestly I don't know what to say Weka. I've seen a lot of posts after 1 and before 8, so I really don't know what to tell ya.

 Is there always such a big reaction to Daveh's appearance?

Edit: Where I found this out...
There's not an actual definite solution, but someone said...

Someone wrote:
Guess what? The "Too Many Connections" wasn't me afterall. My web supplier had done some uograding and moved some sites around about 3 weeks back (he had emailed us of a 12 hour shutdown). Apparently, although he didn't directly admit it, a very large site was moved onto the same server as me and it was this site that was causing the server to overload the connections,,,,,effecting all the rest of the sites on the same server. Since I made my enquiries, the supplier has made a few changes and it seems to be corrected.

So this kind of sounds like the problem, and maybe a possible solution? :?
Though it seems to have stopped...

And here I thought a higher-up was having a go at me. :? That would've been fun. 8) (Lol, Deandra almost did once >.> ...Bonebreaker... lol)

Oh yeah... Daveh is teh epicz. Blue coins are so cool... (Green looks better on Deandra's posts though  )

I never got a "cannot connect" error though. Guess that doesn't always happen... unless Daveh fixed it between his post and now.

Maybe the post problem was a lag in the switch? If that's even possible. It seems like that would fit.

Well then you're looking at a diff site to me, or else not using the same timezone. All posts from yesterday, just after 1pm and just before 8pm are still missing, and from what Daveh said, are likely to remain so.

Can you link to one of these posts pls to see if others can see them?

Am I just being really dense? As I haven't noticed any posts vanishing, and I'm pretty sure I posted during that time. Though for 'pretty sure', read 'not really that sure'. Maybe I didn't see the posts go up, so I wouldn't have noticed them going down.

Though I did encounter one or two brief 'critical errors'.

Is weka's time GMT? Because if not I think she meant 1-8 her time...
And it seems to have been a once off, all the posts that were going to be deleted have been deleted (I think) and no more are now.

Tourist I'm at least 95% certain that you hadn't posted during that time, unless it was on the Morrowind forum, in which case I wouldn't know about that.

British Summer Time (BST), though you'd certainly be hard pressed to know it from the weather!!! But that's GMT + 1hr.

I know for a fact that several replies were deleted. I was on, then I played Ob for a few hours. I checked the site before I left for lunch & shopping. One I do remember, was "r" posted right after me in the General Forum, Beast Race Topic I also saw the replies in the Oblivion Forum, Killing Orcs Topic too.

You're GMT. Well, basically, I guess on the west coast you'd be closer to Lisbon time, or halfway between both, but I'm on the east coast.

I got the Critical Error too, but it wasn't for very long.

Well, south-west. :P It's still the same time as Mayo, unless you live in-land....

Either way, Ireland has no defined time-zone, we kinda share with GMT and GMT + 1:00. I suppose we're GMT + 0:30... but I've never actually checked.
