Hey there.
I have a soloution(spell?) for how to keep spammers and other morons to screw up our wiki.
Soloution: Only members of the wiki(forum)can edit it, OR!
Only moderators(and Daveh ofc) can edit it, so if we want anything edited we have to send them a PM.

That's my opinions..Please say what you think about them.

First, just a few members on the forum are wiki editors, and none of the moderators are. The forum was made as an addition to the UESPwiki, and we have nothing to say in how the wiki is ran. The wiki has a lot of dedicated editors, and imagine how they would feel if suddenly only the forum moderators were allowed to add and edit  The wiki also has a many patrollers that constantly checks all edits made, and if someone screw it up by posting nonsense or bad information, it is quickly dealt with. Personally, I have no time for both the wiki and the forum. So sorry to say, this is a bad idea.

I hold a lot of respect for the folks with the knowledge, desire, skill, and patience to contribute to the wiki. It's something I could never do, mostly because I lack the patience required. That being said, the entire purpose of all wiki-style websites is for the community at large to have access to modification of the information contained within. Yes, you have to deal with the occasional punk who's mommy didn't pay enough attention to him growing up, but by-and-large it's a system that benefits all. Adding a "members only" policy would impede the process more than assist, I think.

I was discussing this the other day. I was thinking about how effective it would be to have a members only for editing the Wiki.

Unfortunately, some people have nothing better to do. If they will register on Forums to Troll, they will register on the Wiki to Vandalize.

It wouldn't really stop anything.

I think the moderators do a lot here and I respect them and there opinions, I don't think they should have the responsibility to have to do both the forums and the wiki, They do have other jobs, I think.

We don't have many problems on the wiki with non-logged in users editing. We only get 2-3 vandals a day max, spam has been taken care of, and the ideals that the wiki is based on is the fact that "anyone can edit".

This is a wiki, not a dictionary. Members edit.
