I was looking through the list of members here on the forum and noticed that 97% of them have ABSOLUTELY NO POSTS WHATSOEVER. What is the deal with that?!? I think that in order to become a full member, you have to post at least once every day for 3 or 4 days, otherwise you are automatically deleted. This is not a site that you can just register for no reason and leave the account high and dry.

you should send them warnings via email first before you delete them and it should be more than one day.

They aren't bothering anyone, and most aren't even people but bots.

So unless we're running low on harddrive space, I doubt we should bother.

If you delete a user, they can't be banned. So if you want to make sure spam bots don't come back to continue posting, you've got to keep them as users.

Apart from what Deandra has already said, I think that this would be a v. bad idea. New members should feel welcome when they join, not under pressure to make sure that they make posts even if they only came to ask one question.

Not to mention the amount of probs we have here with some new members spamming with worthless posts already (yes, I do realise that we currently have quite a number of existing members that also do so). If anything, your suggestion would seem to encourage that. Let people post when they have something to say, not because of some "requirement" to do so.

Yes, I don't see any reason to encourage people to flood the forums with spam.

Well, you could at least attempt to delete the lurkers if they haven't posted in a year or something. Those guys probably allready forgot about the forum anyway.
( Should set the user count to a more realistic number too. )

Ok, so if they are bots, then have one of those "Type what this says and if you don't get it right then you must be a bot" things when you register. That would crack it down to about 10% I'm guessing. But for the lurkers that have forgotten, maybe send them an automatic email after a month or something warning them. I just don't think that it's right to join just to post one question, or even none at all. It just floods the server with user names that, for all intensive purposes, don't exist.

Why are any of you bothered about this? What difference does it honestly make?

I think that we already owe the mods and admins of this site enough as it is, w/o "volunteering" them for more work.

Heldor, I ask your own question of you:
What is the deal with that?!?

If daveh decided to do something about this one day, fair enough, his site, his choice. Likewise if the mods found that it would be of benefit to them to act on it. Otherwise I really do think that the people who v. generously volunteer their time to keep this site running should be allowed to carry on with the real work, rather than having effort diverted by issues that really are inconsequential, but would cause them more work.

You already have to do that when you register...

I remember registering, it took me a hour since I kept capitaliazing letters that shouldn't have been and vice-versa, very annoying but it was worth the trouble. :D

Well then how the heck are the bots getting registered?!? That thing is supposed to stop them, and on every other site I've registered on it's done its job! What's so special about THIS place???

Well, if you don't like this special place, you are free to leave whenever you want.
