As a person with 9 posts, I am austomatically labelled a 'Layman'. I strongly object to this as I am and will always be female, and I propose that whoever came up with this sexist idea should be beaten to an inch of their life :P

Jkin, but is this forum sexist?

But isn't that fact that it could happen an issue or not a problem?

My plan is failing miserably.....

What would you propose to be better or the female equivalent?

What is your plan?

Bear:
Lay person? Novice? Neophyte? Actually, I like the latter. It just sounds cool. 8)

The difference between Layman and Layperson is not a sexist issue, it's just that Layperson sounds oooohhhhh so wrong! On the other hand, I could go with novice over neophyte easily.

Why does the word "woman" have "man" in it?!?! This is an example of sexism most foul!

Seriously though, this forum is about as un-sexist as it's possible for a gaming community on the internet to be.

And can I be a Journeywoman?

Oh oh, if we're claiming titles, can I pls be Wonder Woman?!!! I always soooooo loved her cape!!! Not to mention those gorgeous pseudo-Grecian dresses that they got to wear on Paradise Island!!! :D

But seriously hypercat, I've never seen any hint of what I would ever view as sexism here. I really hope the titles don't put you off?!

As Bear says, I don't consider the titles to be a sexist issue, they're just common words that (certainly in the 21st century at least) can denote male or female, but as Deandra points out, just happens to have "man" as part of the word.

The same could be said about the word "female".

Usually, if a mixed group is present, then the pronouns are defaulted to the male side, in most languages. Even in English, when you say "Hey guys!".

Now get together a large group that has only one male and say "Hey girls!". It's fun, believe me.

The ranks within this forums are based off the ranks within the Temple in Morrowind. It has nothing to do with sexism. The Bethesda Forums use the exact same method for ranking.

Seeing as I spent as much of the non-festivity periods of Xmas on Call of Duty 4 on Xbox Live (guns'n'swearing, guns'n'swearing, guns'n'swearing - I adore COD4 online.. :D ), this place is like some kind of runaway unisex experiment.
So even though the point was raised in semi-jest, this place is about the least sexist videogame related thing I've ever seen. Heck, sometimes it seems we're one step away from having the colour scheme pink, with Nintendo DS written across the screen... :D (a pink DS Lite is officially the most non-guy-gamer thing ever... )

Pink Ds's are kinda wierd looking, the just look not meant to be... by the way, on my way back from my uncle's wedding*, my little sister lost her DS (was also pink).

*This was a little after x-mas.

Don't copy and past like that because it extends the page width and makes it hard to read.

Please don't necropost, especially with something off-topic. Check the date of the last post before you post.

Let's see... Off-topic? check. Tasteless? Check. Necro-posting? Check.
