What are friends & foes?
You can add anyone as a friend or foe. Topics/replies of a friend are highlighted, topics/replies of a foe are hidden (but can be shown).
You can also see a list of online and offline friends in the User Control Panel.

Where can I add new friends/foes?
Go to User Control Panel at the top of the page and click on Friends & Foes.

Here you can discuss this new feature and perhaps ask someone if he wants to be your new friend... or perhaps your new foe . You can add anyone, so your request is accepted automatically. But you can still ask others to add you as a friend, just for the fun of it .

Josjie, I hate you and I never want to see your posts again. Will you be my foe? rofl...

So if you find a user's posts intriguing and worthy of reading twice, you can make their posts highlighted by making them your friend, but you can make Google Bot, Jeeves Bot, and Yahoo Bot your foes just for the heck of it?

since this is the general banter thread and we're allowed to go offtopic i'd just like to say i think it'd be better if the bots were hidden from the online list. i do scan who's online if i'm waiting for a reply from a specific person and it just makes it harder if it's cluttered with unnecessary stuff. call me Mr Picky

I agree with you. It clutters it up like you said.

But friends & foes are pretty cool.... I don't really see the use though. Except blocking the Adoring Fan. That was fun.

It provides certain satisfaction... dunno why. It does. You should try it lol!

Adding a person to your foes list makes their posts not show up, something like the spoiler tags do. You'll see they posted, but that's it. If you want to read a specific post, you can click and see it.
Friends makes PMing easier if you PM someone regularly. When you go to the PM section you'll see your list of friends to one side. Just click one and it'll add their name to the To area.
I'm not sure about highlighted posts, as to be honest I haven't paid attention.

The Adoring Fan. Check this out. That is the best way to kill the Adoring Fan I've ever seen.

i personally won't use the friend foe system. it's not for my taste. if i bother to read someones post properly then i can judge it best i can on the merit of it's logic and clarity. if i like the person or hate them it makes no difference - a good message is independent of the deliverer. sometimes great people make a complete arse of themselves and sometimes complete arses can surprise everybody with a moment of rare clarity

The 'friend' part of the system is already really good, if I want to PM someone spesifically, I don't need to go looking for one of their posts (usually five pages back!) I can simply go to my control panel and PM them from there, off or on it's awsome

That's actually precisely what I use it for, a UESP contacts list for regular PMs.
I've yet to add any foes. Wouldn't look good on my Moderating resumè.

The friends and foes thing is great though. I think I added all actives I could remember as friends. I have no foes.
