Why can't I get an avatar?

I should've made this topic a long time ago, but now, it's really starting to annoy me.
I really want to know why I am unable to upload an avatar.
The avatar I have now is the only one I was able to upload from a URL.
I have no idea what's wrong with this, I need help.

Have you tried saving the picture to your computer and then uploading it from there? That's what I always do.

Yes, I have tried that, it still didn't work.

What is the exact size of your image, in regards to pixels by pixels and file size?

I wouldn't say it's size at all.

I say an error with a file on the system.

I didn't really think so since I tested it on mine and got a completely differentness error, but I figured it didn't hurt to ask.

I'm starting to think that the problem might the size since my current avatar size is, or at least the toolpic in My Pictures says, is 153 x 261 and the other image I was unable to upload was 271 x 314.

Perhaps Cactus was right.
The maximum pixel size of an avatar is 100x100. Those are too big.

Based on the line number where the error message is occurring, I'm guessing that you're uploading an unrecognized image type. The only image types that can be uploaded are jpg, gif, and png (the file type is determined based on the actual image content, as well as the file extension). You cannot upload bmps, or any of the countless other less common image formats (dds, svg, psd, eps) that exist.

But you also need to make sure your image's size is acceptable, otherwise you'll just trigger a different error message.
