Sooo, I find it interesting ow many locked topics you got around these parts. O.o

I mean, yeah sure, I can understand locking topics after the problem is solved, but I think locking every single topic the original creator has lost interest in... may be a bit too much?

In my humble opinion, I would be thinking that locking would be for REAL thread necroing, unneeded threads or a massive amount of posting after the problem was solved...

I can live with locking right away, of course. But I just think locking for the smallest reason is overreacting. And I think the members have a part on this too... They ask the mods to lock every single thing.

Hey, I am not saying completely erradicate the lock function. Of course, when more than one or two people post on a 'solved' problem, or someones massively necros (like topics with years or months), or two lock uncalled-for threads too.

Whatcha say?

No, The locking is functioning fine. Infact, I think they need to lock threads more often, to stop Necro-ers./

Threads are locked more often from the person asking to have the thread locked, than them being spam threads or whatnot.

I don't think anyone's over-locking that much, I think it's probably in everyone's best interests for questions (not ongoing discussion) to be locked so as to stop spambots or confused newbies necro-ing them.

I think the question is best left to the Mods. There's a sort of unwritten rule that if you start a thread and later want it locked, we will unless there's some obvious reason why we shouldn't. In any other case it's left up to the individual Mod who locks it and is decided on a case by case basis; there is no specific "Why we lock threads" rule. Unless I've been left out of the loop...

I went back and looked and while there are several threads locked in one forum; every one had a good reason. So while we, as Mods, respect the opinions of the UESPers, I'm going to, in this instance, respectfully disagree and say we're completely justified by every thread we locked.

There's also that unwritten rule that Mods have ultimate and unlimited power and can do what we want without just cause or warning up to and including random deletion of accounts for the lulz.

"Unlimited power"
You can't even merge the Travels/Daggerfal/etc. forums or install a simple plug-in against spambots :P

But I agree with Cactus/Dogmantra/Arzock. Just like Arzock, I think they need to lock them more often.
