Well, if you click on Usergroups, up above the log out button, you're given a choice of usergroups to see the information for.
One is a group called Moderators, the other, a group called Helper-Mod.
My curiosity has got the better of me, and I was wondering what the differences between the groups were.

So: What are the differences between Helper-Mods and Moderators?

(Also: I notice that you can actually apply to join the group "moderators"... though I'm too scared to click the button, since I have scary thoughts about Codex and/or Cactus coming out of the screen and starting to shout at me. Anyway, apart from that tangent, what exactly would it do if I did pluck up the courage to click that button?)

no offense intended, Cactus and Codex, it just seems that if anyone is going to come out of my computer screen angry at me and possibly start to eat my face, it's going to be one of you.

Helper mods are moderators with basic abilities, but frankly I'm not quite sure how basic they are as I've never been a helper mod myself. The only difference I can tell is that they cannot moderate the Announcements and UESP sections of the forums.

Nothing would happen immedialtly, but the moderator of the usergroup can see which users have applied to the group, and choose users from the list to become moderators.

Okay, does anyone else know if there are other significant differences?

I notice you're the helper mod group moderator... *nudge nudge*

Uhm... their name is different? :P

Or perhaps they can only lock/move topics?

But I didn't know you could actually join the group yourself :D So if you do, you come in a list with wannabe moderators, and as soon as you need a new moderator, you pick one from the list?

I think the main differance is that only Moderators (And Daveh!) can ban people.

But thats me guessing, I've just yet to see helper-mod ban someone *Cannon Fodder for Cactus and Vargon:P *

Helper-Mods have all the Moderator powers, except they can't moderate in the Announcements and UESP Site forums. They can ban users and everything else.

Cactus is actually a Moderator. The only helper mod we have at the moment is Varmor.

Also, to Varmor (and codex), merci.

I thought there might be something more to it than that.
