That thread looks more like an excuse to professionally insult, covered by the icing of the 'learn to roleplay' message.

 Asides from that, it's a hack and slash of the many RP guides out there - that info was mostly just a review of what I already know and learned.

That too. And general elitism as well. People think that even the slightest hint of stock character trait is going to doom the thread.

Ha... puns. Nice Dark Lord, lol. Anyway... in RP threads, like Deandra outlined on this topic already about the rules... it's okay to be somewhat insulting or elitist so long as it doesn't get so much in the way. Haha... if you've read Strife's posts you can tell even if he's a bit lacking in common sense, he's definitely somewhat elitist. (As am I >.>)

And Zetal, don't worry too much. Chances are there will be at least one more rp thread created at some point. Until then you can read through what's already there. They can kind of be like short, somewhat choppy stories... generally with a lot of player error that you get to laugh at because you're not the one that did it.

I'm pretty tired of the first attempt thread myself

I had a whole nice story planned out, but all of the confusion and massive number of posts to sift through, coupled with the fact that I've been really busy at work, meant I couldn't actually do a whole lot with it. The plot I had planned has barely begun, and yet there are close to 40 pages in there--not cool.

Five people sounds idea for a roleplay. The next one I try to lead will definitely have limited signup in advance.

Well, as far as I can tell, Ring of Fire should be smooth sailing from here. We should be down to around 7 people or so, and aside from the posts about everyone quitting, everything has slowed down to the pace it should've been at.

You could try to have a post 'order' so that every five posts or so they'd have to wait for a GM response.

I didn't mention that because I was hoping it would be kind of a common sense thing to treat the roleplay like reality, where if you're talking to someone you won't simply walk off before they respond unless something happens which everyone needs to turn their attention to, or unless your character's personality is such that he/she has ADHD or somesuch.

Strife is right his character has an excuse to not talk to some people.... he has a phobia of people.

Some people still have it stuck in their head that they are restrained by coding, rather then reality.

8-10 people would be what I go with. Maybe later when, or if roleplay threads become more common place, 6 would be alright, but not now. The threads are a bit too scarce at the moment.
