I still don't think spambots are really a big deal. We don't have a captcha for a reason; and before we get one, the moderators could try a few extra things. I think our current method is fine. The proof is in the puddin'!

So let's not get too carried away, ja?
Agreed. Besides this one of the least infected forums I've been to. I only posted this thread so the spambot thread wouldn't veer way off topic. I won't say that CAPTCHA is needed, but is more of a precaution. And there are other options, like you said there are a few people - myself included - that already are picking out the bots and throwing them to the dragons! :Twisted Evil:

You haven't seen the LittleBigPlanet fansite forums. No, seriously. They have had no spambots at all.
None? As in ZERO? Nothing being reported as "potential spambots" like we have here? If you mean LITERALLY zero bots, that'd be a miracle. No offense, but that's a little hard to believe.

As a btw, I also support question verification as well. Bot's won't know if we say "Fill in the blank: The _____ Scrolls" (as an example). Anything is an option, including doing what we do, as we do it now. But that's why were in this thread, to determine if anything is needed.

Like form a neighborhood watch group to encourage users to help and we could hold a bake off every thursday at the end of every month!

Now-less-silly: If there ever was a problem and users wanted to help, vigilance for bots is a good way to pitch in, reporting is a good way to be an extra pair of eyes for the mod team...

They have a thread already set up for that. Maybe they should set up a special team to deal with spam bots as they are caught. If I was able to, I'd take out a spam bot myself.

That's simply too extreme. Like just about all of you has said, we're good at catching bots before they post.
Then, conversation over? I guess we're good. And I'm not trying to be extreme. Hence the smiley. More or less just joking a little.
