Well, of course I don't mean that there has to be a competition. I'm all for grassroots creativity. ;) But it serves as a motivator - you have a deadline, you make a commitement, so it's more likely you'll actually finish it. And it gives you the incentive to share it with others right away, instead of hiding it in some dark drawer of your hard drive.

Though I'm not sure what Andere meant by "the ability to prospect the outcome"?

I'm glad you like the idea, I'll try to dig out my drawing gear and remember which end of the pencil is teh action end. ;) I haven't had time for drawing in a looong while.

I am thinking that we shall kick off the new year with the "Postcards from Tamriel" idea. It has enough going that you can draw a picture, take a screenshot, take a photograph, or write a letter (I can make a "blank postcard template" for writers to fill in?). What does everyone think?

Also, now that the CotM is a little cemented, we're going to pull a few extra tricks out of our sleeves for winners... Let that wet your appetite a little, eh?

PS -
Spoiler:
It's totally prizes. GET EXCITED.

This idea isn't great for a CotM but maybe "A day in the life of a Daedric Prince." It could be the diary entry of one of the Daedric Princes and what they get up to. It could be a piece of art. It could be a short story, et cetra.
What do you think?

Maybe we could write a song about a TES thing, for example Dovahkiin, the main plot of Morrowind, Alto Wine, etc.

Beginning, as in the reason why you were in prison, or just what happens after you get out of the tutorial in a game, like "Derpes crawled out of the Imperial Sewers. He spotted the city ahead, and he went on in the city and proceeded to try and steal a bread he saw. His sneaking skills were rusty from prison..."

Beginning,as " The game starts with you bound in the cell of a ship. You can move only your head as you are a bit confused. You hear the pirates leader telling you that you are going to be food for sharks.Suddenly everything goes black. You find yourself in a little island while you can see a giant cracken (something as alduin in skyrim)" etc.

And you can continue as you want...

So an original opening sequence rather then a person's walk through a pre-established one, possibly with an aim towards TES VI, I could get behind that.

Hmmm, that is an interesting idea.

And just a warning, because I just moved and because February is a short month, I think we will skip the CotM...but just this once! We'll return at the end of the month with a full week of prep and brainstorming before we start, how's that?

You cannot skip February... it has Valentines Day... Do not the people of Skyrim deserve a Valentines Day Card...???

Especially if it is from one of the Children, handmade, with crayons (paint shop).

HINT: A Skyrim Valentines Day Card Competition (or even a note/letter).

I suppose we could have a mini competition - that sounds delightful! I'll set it up tonight.

We do have some issues with lots of people entering, not a lot voting. Remember to do your part and vote in our competitions. It's a great way to show that you care!

It could be funny, like some cards, and be something like this: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/File:OB-npc-Modreyn_Oreyn_Painting.jpg

...but holding flowers instead of a sword. (this way Veck could user the one she did a while back)

Okay - competition is up, better late than never!

Also, we need new ideas now: prizes! What make good prizes? I personally like gift certificates because then the winner can get what they want, but what are some good places for this? I know Amazon.com is neat and so is my favorite website, ThinkGeek, which has awesome things. Where else would you guys like to win from?

Something befitting of the occasion, something Valentine's Day-y might appease the broad masses. I'm not a fan of Valentine's Day, though, so I'll keep away from this one.

Okay, new idea for a competition: a forum and wiki scavenger hunt. Give me your thoughts, please. Plausible? Fun? Interested? Better ideas? Hit me. (Well, not really...I'm awfully weak and don't want to bruise!)

Scavenger Hunt for wiki and forums? Eh, I'm thinking easy. But it might be a good idea if it is difficult.

Us devious moderators have the ability to run loose and edit posts around the forums for a scavenger hunt...

I don't think you'll get the wiki to agree to this, just saying.

Why? You don't have to do anything; you're just there for people to look through. No one is editing the Wiki pages for anything.

Perhaps the clues will be riddles, so you have to solve the riddle first to get the clue. It's totally doable.

Well, that's fine than. Not really an easter egg hunt, more like research than though.
