My uneducated guess would be that mods can get points, but they have to be awarded by other mods, not themselves. Hopefully we can trust them not to do the forum version of XP boosting. :P

Yep, points can be given only by Mods. In fact, some of us have already begun handing out points for helpful posts! And Dirty is correct in that we can also earn Mod points (for changing coins or somesuch) and those will be earned in the same ways members earn them!

And if you're wondering why Musicman called them 'Mod points' that's what they were originally called before he came up with the name 'UESPoints' and we thought it sounded more snazzy. :)
