UESP Forums

So remember when we told everyone about Phase 2 being custom ranks and coins for Grand Masters? Remember how several people felt they would never have a chance at getting either of those? Also remember how a Phase 3 was hinted at? You don't? Oh, well all that happened. And now the Moderating Team is proud to present: UESPoints!

UESPoints are a reward currency that will be given to users for different things around the forum. The most visible way to get them is to enter the CotM or one of the games in the Forum Games sub-forum (more on that next week!). But winning games isn't the only way to get UESPoints. You can also get them by being helpful and active around the forums. Basically UESPoints can be given out at a Moderator's discretion to anyone they feel deserves them.

Why would I want UESPoints?
I'm glad you asked. UESPoints, as stated above, are a new currency at the UESP Forums. They can be redeemed at a future date for all kinds of neat perks and prizes! Some of the planned perks/prizes include:

• Having a custom name color for a month
• Having custom coins for a month
• Custom rank for a month
• Username changes

These are not the only things in the works, either. We're working toward having actual physical prizes you can claim as well!

Sounds great! How many points will all this awesome stuff cost?
The short answer is: we don't know yet. This is a brand new system, so we want to take a month and figure out how many points someone can realistically earn in that amount of time. We'll take that data and come up with prices then. So the earliest you can redeem the points would be in October.

Do points roll over month to month?
Yes, yes they do. Any points you earn will stay on your profile until you cash them in for a prize/perk.

How do I earn UESPoints?
As stated above, winning contests and games is one of the ways you can earn UESPoints. Along with those fun, whimsical ways, you can also earn them by being especially helpful or contributing to the forums. What that looks like will vary from Mod to Mod, but I'm offering your very first UESPoint right here by simply posting a reply to this announcement. That's right! You can get your very own UESPoint by posting something here, whether it be a question or comment, as long as it pertains to UESPoints, you will receive one!

Just so you know, i'm not opening Dovah's wares for the clinically insane but needs the points in order to fund his plans for UESP dominationn and for some reason, sweetrolls that are pink.

Joking aside, this is a wonderful idea but will the General forums be except from points or will certain threads disallow them due to the nature of them? E.g. The ranting thread because, well, it's there for ranting whereas General Discussion could allow it for the rare serious discussion?

Also, will Forum Games be a case of the Greenies only creating the games to begin with then letting those who are approved to create games or will it be Mod only?

As it says above, it will be up to the discretion of the Moderators to award points. One may only give points for being helpful in the game threads, one may award points for being a beacon of hilarity in the General Discussion. It just all depends.

As per the Forum Games, what about "More info coming next week!" don't you understand?

About Forum games, It's the next week part i don't understand for tehre is never a next week. The weeks just repeat over and over again and never have the term next or last with them. I'll stop messing around now before i find myself in chains.

Also, with custom names, will it be a once and that's it affair or a if ye have the points, ye can call yerself fluffy the dragon then Mr Kittens a few weeks later affair etc..?

As of right now we're thinking you'll be able to change it as many times as your points allow. So your proposal above would be open to you if you have enough UESPoints. How much is enough? We don't know yet.

Phase 3 is going to start out with Knight Captain Kerr: Civil War. It'll be over whether or not users should have to register their real names as part of their account.

Of course I, The Captain, will be firmly on the Anti-Registration side. Not sure who's going to be leading the Pro-Registration camp just yet.

You know, running Play by Post RPGs is busy work that GMs do in order to bring joy to other users. So might that be considered something that could result in UESPoints?

I would say we'd consider that. In fact, we're planning on rewarding the winners of the Molag Bal Game with UESPoints from now on!

When you say "Forum Games"... What exactly will they be? I'm guessing you've got some guidelines in mind (I'm HOPING, at least ), and it won't just be a bunch of people going "HAY GUISE I FOUNT DIS ON TEH INTRWUBZ AND IS COOOOOOOLLLL LOLOLOL LESS PLAY".

Nah, us Mods are totally lax with any and all rules.

I'll be completely honest, when I first saw the "UESPoints" category my first thought was that I had lost my sense of time and April Fool's had come early. My second thought was, "Oh no, they didn't put in Karma, did they?"

Thankfully, I was proven wrong on both fronts, and all in all this seems like an innovative and interesting idea to add more fun to the forums - which seems to be what all your recent changes (should I call them Phase shifts?) have been all about. So good on you guys!

Come on, can't you do it retroactively? With bonus points if you do it on the cultist side without losing a single teammate? Hint hint. Just kidding. I fully plan to go on an indefinite unbeaten streak from this point on, however.

Are making puns in the welcome thread a way to get points? Because so help me, I will go through everyone that has posted in there for the last year and make a joke off of their names, even if they are no longer active.

How will we know how many UESPpoints we have? Will you modify the UCP or something to show the points or will the Mods keep track of everything?

I'm glad folk are interested in the new points system! I'm hoping it won't turn into some kind of Hunger Games for points, but I'm sure it will be nothing more than a little bonus to accompany the forum shenanigans!

I think it's all very exciting and I hope everyone enjoys getting involved or just watching the fun unfold!

This is an intriguing idea. Good way to encourage people to post and be active and helpful at the same time. Rather curious about this game subforum idea.
