Well, it's been several months since we've implemented the new rank levels, and so far everyone but Dark Spark has grown to love them. What we didn't tell you at the time was that was only Phase One of the plan. Now we're ready to announce Phase Two: Custom Ranks

That's right. We're going to reward Grand Masters with their own custom rank and a choice of some shiny new coin designs (if they want them)! What are they? Guess you'll have to wait until a Grand Master is sporting them to see!

FAQ

• How do I get a custom rank?
Custom ranks will be offered to all Grand Masters. You don't need to do anything, we'll find you.

• Will sending Moderators PMs non stop give me a better chance at a custom rank?
No. It will have the opposite effect, so don't do it.

So if you are a Grand Master you can expect a PM in the next week or so asking what you'd like your custom rank to be (if you want one at all). Custom ranks must follow all forum rules and must not contain curse words, as the word filter does not filter rank titles.

This is just another way of us showing our users how much we appreciate you!

What about blackmailing TPMs with pictures of shady projects that they took part in? Not that i'm doing that or about to do that or have a lot of naughty pictures of the entire team as blackmail material.

Joking aside, would it be possible to change how the posts are tracked? I understand that all posts in General don't get tracked thus me being half a coin short from getting shiny custom coins. Is it possible to amend part of the code to allow all posts to be tracked? I mean, General users are still part of the community but our posts(if true) are not being tracked thus we may not get a chance to become Grand Masters.

That would be a question better suited for the Forum proposals and questions thread, but I'll give a brief answer here.

The way posts were counted was changed years ago to encourage users to post in the game sections, since this is a forum that's supposed to be focused on TES games.

Also, being a Grand Master isn't something that just anybody should be able to attain. It should reflect a user making lots of meaningful posts that are helpful and build up the community. I hope this helps answer your concern.

This is a great opportunity to increase community around these forums. A lot of you are already helpful and friendly, so like Musicman said this is a way of showing you appreciation for your efforts to help others feel welcome here.

My custom rank would be Dirty Spaceman. I can see it now: "Dirty Spaceman: Dirty Spaceman".

All I need to do now is get 1211 more non-General posts, which should take me only about twelve more years. Can't wait!

Though I will likely never be a Grand Master, in the spirit of curiosity I have to ask: If one gets a custom rank and later wants to change it, a) can they and b) how often can they?

What about those of us outside the current rank structure? Do we get the chance for custom ranks?

This is a neat idea, rewarding active members of the community. I still stand by my stance that the general forum community is still the community, but if anything this might make me frequent the Oblivion forum a lil' more. Seeing as how Skyrim is a no-go for me for quite some time.

I didn't think we needed to write an essay to explain our choice.

My username is an oxymoron. I'm a believer in balance through contradiction. And posting that title may make others think that I told you I was undecided about my title and you guys ran with that. Thus the joke exists on more than one level. It's understated, yet describes everything about me.

I still don't know if you want that to be your title or not, so it's your title until you correct me.
