Hi UESP'ers,

We've been getting quite a few reports of emails from the system never being received - this goes for activation of new accounts, password reset, reactivation upon changing the email address linked to your account, and the "email this user" button on posts/profiles. Initially it was just a problem with Hotmail, but it seems to be spreading.

We're working to solve this issue, but until then, we'd advise that you do not change the email address on your account, because it will result in you getting locked out of it if you do not receive the reactivation email. If you're unable to access your account for any reason - or if you're a new user who wishes to activate their account - please send an email to forums@uesp.net and we'll be able to help you out. :)

Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused! We'll keep you posted when we learn anything new on this issue.

- The mod team

UPDATE: The issue has been fixed, except for the remaining Hotmail problem.

The recent email issues are fixed...they were just caused by sendmail not running as it was not setup to start when the server rebooted. That's been fixed so we just have to check on the old hotmail issue.

It also appears that any emails that would have been sent by the system since this problem started have now been sent.

Did this issue also push through old e-mails? I got a slew of e-mails from years ago re-pushed through my e-mail. Thought I'd check and see if it was because of this. :) Thanks!

Yes it did:

Yes, for some reason the sendmail daemon wasn't running on any of the content servers since they were last rebooted. I think content2 was rebooted a while ago so any wiki e-mails which happened to have been sent from there would have never been sent and left in the mail queue until this morning.

The issue shouldn't repeat itself, and you can safely ignore the old messages.
