Re: How are health stats rolled? - doesn’t match manual.
I've just been using DOSBox debug builds to step through the game, but it can be a little fiddly. Whenever I want to find some value in memory, I have to create a dump file containing the whole memory and search through that, then locate that address in the debugger. And then there are segment ...

Re: How are health stats rolled? - doesn’t match manual.
Sorry, I meant to reply to this earlier.
Why do you believe the check for n equal to 4 is a mistake on the OpenTESArena wiki?
The function that tests for integer multiples looks something like this:
function multiple_test(n) <-
while true
b <- 6
do
if n mod b == 0 then return (n, b+1)
else ...

Re: How are health stats rolled? - doesn’t match manual.
I think you've pretty much got it, but I now see I could have worded some parts better.
When I said, "The range is from 0 to n-1 inclusive for values of n <= 8", what I meant was, "When n <= 8, the range is from 0 to n-1 inclusive." Does that make more sense?

Re: How are health stats rolled? - doesn’t match manual.
Could you also direct me to the OpenTESArena wiki?
I located a post that had some info and then mentions that they were putting the rest on the wiki, but every time I try to look I seem to only find general updates and completion/needs work notices for OpenTESArena and not anything from the ...

Re: What did you do in Arena today?
I checked version 1.07 and it contains the same erroneous code, so I assume it is also affected by the degrading automap bug. I forgot to consider though that the bytes to be changed differ between versions, as things get moved around in memory.

Re: What did you do in Arena today?
(Apologies if this is off-topic.)
Sometimes it isn't preferable to quit and restart like that, such as if you're exploring a dungeon, due to the annoying way the quality of your automap degrades slightly whenever you restore. That drives me crazy, because I like to hug the walls of a dungeon as I ...

Re: Forums? Discord? Life?
I try to check these forums fairly often, although I admittedly don't post much (or at all). The main reason I go here rather than Discord is because you can't lurk there or read posts without creating an account.

Re: Was Tamriel originally meant to be backwards, I wonder?
I just found something that might help. Page 62 of the Codex Scientia (the official hint guide) depicts a compass on the wall of some dungeon with the east and west markers swapped. That contributes to the theory that everything was intended to be reversed at some point.

Is this a coincidence?
I recently found out 'Drarayne Thelas' is an anagram of 'her sane rat lady'. Is this deliberate, given that she is the subject of a quest involving rats? Her Oblivion counterpart is even referred to as 'the rat lady'.
