For me, it's the quality of retcon that matters. Remember that the Maruhkati Dragonbreak was just an explanation on why there were virtually no events in the second millennium of the First Era.
I understand what you mean, though. Too many of them, even if they're actually good, can ruin the feeling ...

Re: Unfortunate ESO Retcons (Gripe Thread)
Yeah, Ebonarm hasn't been mentioned since Daggerfall. This retcon, while definite for the first time, is not something new. I'm kind of glad it happened, because I've never been able to place Ebonarm in any of the established pantheons.

Re: What was the currency called before Talos?
Just to throw in this bit: In TESA: Redguard, set in year 2E 864, the word "gold" is used exclusively to refer to currency. Considering Redguard's lore belongs in the same era of development as Morrowind's (where "septims", "drakes" and "gold" are used interchangeably), I think it was intentional ...

Re: Unfortunate ESO Retcons (Gripe Thread)
I give up. Lord Dregas Volar and his Daedric Crescent appear at a Dark Anchor. They do realise this is hundreds of years before the Battlespire even existed .

Re: Unfortunate ESO Retcons (Gripe Thread)
I agree that the new additions to lore far outweigh any contradictions that have arisen. I mean, for an example, ever since Redguard and the PGE1, we've been told there was an invasion of Thras, but the only answers answered were what and when (and even that was in question). All the little details ...

Re: Aedra, Daedra, and what they really are
Keep mind, The Aedra are more than just the Divines. The people of Tamriel are the progeny of those who came before them. And gods, too, once walked as mortals (indeed, by the divine pact of creation, they ARE mortal). And what is a child but a physical and spiritual manifestation of oneself?

Re: Aedra, Daedra, and what they really are
Avatars are usually defined as either physical or spiritual manifestations of gods (e.g. Jon Hawker in Morrowind, or Pelinal at Alessia's deathbed). I don't think the word should be used lightly. Every person on Tamriel could be considered as having a part of Aedric essence, but they're not really ...

Whoah, 95? That's incredible. Kind of makes me wonder which ones you answered wrong. :P
Also, thanks for "beta testing" my quiz. I made most of it when I didn't have any Internet connection so I couldn't check on all the details. Still, kinda sloppy of me.

Re: Transcription Errors
A well-thought-out theory, but I think the sample pool is too small for us to be able to make that claim without qualms.
It would be nice, though, for Cyrodiil to turn into the jungle-as-we-know-it at the end of ESO due to some end-game quest.

I've never heard Dagoth Ur say this one in-game, but it is in the game files, so:

Elder Scrolls Lore Quiz
I came across an ES Lore quiz on the net, which seemed like a fun way to pass my time. Not really satisfied, I did a little searching for other quizzes. They were all equally disappointing. Most of them had (extremely) poor grammar, were far too easy and contained fanart/fanfiction. So I decided to ...
Rhojiit
I'm having trouble understanding this Ta'agra word from the context in which it was first mentioned. I've googled "Rhojiit" and found that some people believe it to refer to "Sabretooth cats". Could anyone lend a hand?

We can only guess what Akatosh and Lorkhan could even possibly want with Mundus.

The only person who can lite the Dragonfires is a Dragonborn, but no, one does not become Dragonborn by lighting the fire, one shows they are Dragonborn by doing so.

Re: The Shezzarines
Akatosh chooses Dragonborn not by their family, their personality, their goals, or their accomplishments, he chooses them because they need to be so.

How are they chosen? By whoever is the oldest kid or The Emperor's closest living relative.

Wait, what? You imply that Remans and Septims (entire sets of rulers) were all are Dragonborns, but that being a Dragonborn is not hereditary? Then how are successors to the title of Dragonborn emperor being chosen?

Re: The Shezzarines
I remember seeing somewhere that Alessia was being referenced as Aka. I can see now from the context that I clearly got that wrong (I mean the "mindless dragon" and Aka in the same paragraph pretty much give it away). So Pelinal is somewhat related to Akatosh, I admit that (although besides this, I ...

Re: The Shezzarines
Martin was an avatar of Akatosh, not Shezzar. Therefore, not a Shezzarine. Same as the Dragonborn: The soul of a Dragon would be Akatosh's sole domain, not Lorkhan's.

The Shezzarines
Avatars of the missing Divine Shezzar, otherwise known as Lorkhan. Most of them heroes (I wouldn't dare capitalize it yet) who assisted Men in some way (and almost all had dealings with one of the Towers, but I digress). Very little is known about them as far a official lore is concerned ( in-game ...
