I had that exact same problem 2-3 days ago. I assumed it was because I cleared the cave prior to getting the mission, but I may be wrong. I fixed it by changing the stage of the mission one step forward in the console.

However, while you are there make sure to levitate to the roof and enter the small room there. There is a Daedric Paldron in that room (in the crack in the wall). The Quest mentioned take you to the inside but not to the room on the roof.

I don't know how to "mod" fix your problem, but if you decide to reload and try again, here is what I do.

An even better option is to buy Tribunal (if you don't already have it) and go there to sell sell stuff. I am usually able to sell between 40-50k worth of stuff per trip (in 10k to 17k chunks).

The only way I have been able to sell individual items >20k is to enchant a REALLY expensive item first ...
