After loads of casting I've finally become a master conjurer, however it was my opinion that an Xivilai was the strongest deadra in game but now that I can summon one its incredibly weak!? It barely lasts in a fight against one bandit, is this right? On the other hand a gloom wraith is super strong but infuriatingly slow, so what I'm asking is what spell do most of the conjurers out there rely on and whats the ideal duration?

cheers :)

PS - go easy its like my second post on these forums :D

i always found the daedroth to be a good solid beast to summon. They dont have any fancy abilities so dont waste time and get stuck in. They also usually last a long time, mine rarely died before the spell ran out

clanfears also just get stuck in. When you summon something you want it to tie up opponents, not prance about behind you lobbing spells at the enemy

strange thing about conjuration is the best spells for that school are the powers gained by doing the SI campaign.
Summon flesh atronarch for 120 seconds, as well as saints and seducers for 60/120 secs respectively are great for a conjuror. The flesh atronarch especially will pwn most things in Cyrodiil
if you also complete the haunted hill quest (lay suicide ghosts to rest) you can also raise dead for 120 secs too

Clanfear for me I just like how when I pull back to shoot my bow or cast a spell it can keep up to keep damaging the enemy although later on they can't be relied on too much but still cool

The Daedroth for me was the best because of it's just tough over all demeanor and capacity to kill most anything. Not to mention it looks like a monster of oblivion. Even though there were tougher creature like the storm/flesh atronach, dremora lord, etc. this was my favorite for oblivion. I do miss the winged twilights from morrowind though and wouldn't have minded getting to see an Ogrim Titan in Oblivion... Haskill is awesome too if he counts anyway lol.

I ran up and down the waterfront edge casting Conjuration spells to get to Journeyman level in one game night. Good job nobody was watching THAT

Dremora are cool to summon. They make good meat shields.

I usually use a Storm Atronach--they're incredibly durable and though they're slow they can attack from a distance, unlike a lot of the summons. They work well for me because I usually use a conjured creature as a distraction or to buy some time to recover, not as a strong attacker.

I like Clannfears, they're quick and do decent melee damage.

why don't you cast SHIELD, or any other protection on him?(or any other summoned creature) I think that will make him more durable.

Dremora lord is probably the best or maybe the lich, but I prefer the storm atronach and the skeleton champ

Daedroth or frost atro (a.k.a. tunnel blocks). And like Mattbot said Daedroth tend to keep breathing until they evaporate.

My favorite is the Voracious Hunger, because hungers are Sheogorath's favorite pet. <3

congrats on the 100 conjuration, just got mine there myself. I see conjuration as more of a "training dummy" skill, since I'm going a controlled levelling route (int, End, and Will maxed by level 12 on a male breton with the lady birthsign makes me happy)

I summon for 3 reasons: combat, training dummy, and soul trap (the last two usually go hand in hand)

Combat:
I mostly summon the dremora lord in battle (he's a little tough to get, as the only merchant in the game that sells him is removed during a quest, so get him early). He's tough and he shouts insults and witty comments at his foes. My favorite thing about him is twofold. One, when he's summoned, most enemies run at him, completely ignoring you. good for a mage since you can then throw spells at them without fear of being hit. Hitting him a few times turns him on you, but you can just re-summon him to counter that. The other is the things he says. My personal favorite is something like "become my trophy" or similar. He laughs a lot while fighting too.

Training:
skeleton for me, until I hit level 50 conjuring (or was it 75?) and can summon the flame antronach, which takes far more hits to go down. (more hits = more exp = less training time) (with near maxed strength and 47 hand to hand, it took 23-25 punches to drop it, so good training)

Soul trap:
Before I hit level 100, i used the flame antronach, as it has a 800 pt soul. (2 kills to recharge any weapon i make myself, 4 to refill apothesis, the only staff i use) After that, the voracious hunger (shivering isles) is my 1600 soul trap stooge. Good for enchanting with azura's star.

Lich (I find Liches awesome in general really :) ) followed by Dremora Lord

The Lich is good for more FPS (Fireballs Per Second :Twisted Evil: ), but a meat shield really helps....

Do what I do (Note: Only works if you took conjuration as a major skill): Go into a small room, stand in front of the door, and cast summon skeleton, then just shoot the thing with turn undead until the summon runs out, then just rinse and repeat. :)

Dremora Lords and Hungers. They tend to last longer. The Dremora Lord is especially good because it levels with you and can be buffed, whereas liches and xivilai can absorb/reflect your buffs and healing spells.

Plus sometimes the Dremoras Lords come with enchanted weapons!
