So, my Wabbajack isn't working, when it hits a creature, it does nothing. What could possibly be the problem?

What kind of creatures have you tried it on? Are you sure the spell is hitting the creature? Have you tried waiting a few seconds after using it?

I've tried it on a Land Dreugh, a Spriggan, a Minotaur, and an Ogre. Yes, and yes.

It should work on them, but you should go try it on lesser creatures as well. Things like dogs, horses, rats, etc.

It still doesn't work. I tried it on some rats and some horses and a scamp I summoned, it still had no effect.

That's strange. I've never had Wabbajack go lame before. You might have to contact the mods directly and find out if you'll need to post a new bug.

ES Games: Oblivion and Skyrim.
Platform: PC and 360. Definitely not PS3.

Has it been like that ever since you got it? It might have just run out of charge...

I had a similar problem except the Wabbajack just made the enemy disappear then return a few seconds later with fully replenished health.

No, I've had it for a long time, and it just stopped working all of a sudden. Yes it's charged, I'm not that dumb, the problem is that the spell it shoots does nothing to any creature.

Edit: Okay, so I got the Wabbajack on my other character and it appears to work...strange. It might be because I got a new Xbox. I was going to try using the Wabbajack on the character it wouldn't work on...but I can't find it at the moment.

Okay, I really have no idea where I put it. Last place I remember putting it was in a display case in Rosethorn Hall, and of course it isn't there, so I'm stumped. I'm still going to continue looking for it, though.

Heh heh. HUGE necro-post, but YOU are the OP (Original Poster) who started the topic, so you're allowed to revive it.

Oblivion (regardless of whether it's the PC or a Console version, patched or not) still suffers from occasional physics bugs which cause items to hang in mid-air and fail to fall to the ground, or occasionally fall through solid surfaces, even through floors/walls/ground. I remember reading somewhere that the display cases in Rosethorn Hall are especially notorious for items falling through them and through the floor below.

Unfortunately, since you're on Xbox 360, you have no access to the PC's Developer Console. As such, you can't use the TCL (ToggleClipping) command to fly through the floor/wall/ground and retrieve any lost items.

For this reason, I never store precious collectable items in display cases or leave them lying around in the open. I only ever keep my precious items in containers. As long as items are in an inventory, they don't exist as meshes and are therefore NOT subject to physics, so they can't be affected by any physics bugs.

Hope this helps.

Well, that does help prevent anything like this from happeneing again, I guess I learned the hard way not to leave stuff lying around.

Edit: I found it, it was in a chest in my house in Leyawiin, who'da thunk it? Oh, and guess what? It still doesn't work.

I don't know of any definitive fix, but I will at least give you a list of things to try.

1. Go to a mage who recharges items and/or try activating a Varla stone in your inventory. I know you said that it has charges, but that wouldn't stop the game from pretending it doesn't.

2. Try selling it and buying it back. I have no idea if this would work, but it's something to try.

3. I don't know how many different creatures you've tried it on, but you could try going to any creatures you haven't tried it on and see if you have any luck.

4. Making a clone may fix the bug. I don't think it's clonable through practical means, but if you go through the process of cloning yourself with the Wabbajack in your inventory, it should clone the staff. If it doesn't clone or it still has the bug, at least you've doubled your money  (If you need a full tutorial on cloning yourself, just PM me.

5. (I don't remember if this actually works but...) Put it in an owned container, exit the inventory screen then make sure you are seen taking it back. I think that will register the item as stolen. Get caught by the guards and retrieve the Wabbajack from the evidence chest. That should reload the item (I think).

6. If you have a cat, throw the controller at it. (Don't really do that  )

If none of these work, I think you're SOL.

Sorry, that didn't work.

Didn't work. :|

I've tried it on quite a variety of creatures. The strangest thing happened when I tired it on Sparky the Imp: a soon as the spell hit him, he started flapping his wings very rapidly and went up the stairs and went into the library, even after I heard the door open I could hear his wings flapping and saw that he had appeared back at Thaurron's side. Anyway, I've tried it on some horses, all that happened was I got a bounty because, apparently, wabbajacking horses is considered stealing. I tried it on a dog, some rats, some mudcrabs, an Orge, a Minotaur Lord, a Mountain Lion, a Xivilai, a Will-o-the-wisp, a Spriggan, a Brown Bear, some creatures I summoned like a Hunger, a Ghost, a Scamp, a Skeleton, a Flesh Atronach...it would appear that the staff has no effect regardless of what I hit with it.

Yeah, I guess I'll have to ask you about that.

Yeah, sorry, but this didn't work, I put it in an owned container and took it out right in front of someone and they didn't say anything, so I'm guessing I'm not really stealing it.

Aw, I wish I still had my cats...but not so I can throw the controller at them.

So, I guess I am going to have to ask you about cloning myself, because I had no idea I could do that.

I wish it were as simple as that, but I'm afraid lies within the staff's spell.

I'm on the Xbox, I wish I were on the PC so I could just spawn another one using the magic console and see if that works.

I had this problem on the PS3, and cloning did fix it. Try that if you haven't, here's the basic outline... I suggest somewhere small and lightly or not inhabited, the vampire cave you clear out for the count of cheydinhall is ideal if you've completed that quest. Note that you will not be able to re-enter the cave you use to do this in without losing the clone.

http://uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Glitches#Permanently_Clone_Yourself
hope that helps, complete and it does work, I've done it myself. Be sure to sell the original Wabbajack after doing this, having two can cause problems in rare instances, don't use the second until the first is sold.)

I was going to try this, but I can't find my Skull of Corruption, I remember seeing it recently, I just have to look for it.
