I notice we pretty much all know about the Oblivion Character Planner, but I don't think many people know about the Morrowind Character Creator. It's a great tool, although not yet as sophisticated as the Oblivion Character Planner. Still, really handy for anyone who's interested.

In addition, the Character Creator's creator ( ), YogiBaar, has a great little Potion Maker tool, currently in development. While it isn't finished, it's still quite handy for Alchemy. If you know anything about Alchemy formulas and algorithms, have a look over here.

To add to these two tools, I've also recently discovered the Morrowind Enchant Simulator. A nice handy tool for testing out and planning your enchanted weapons and apparel.

I just found this today while browsing this forum. It's pretty cool but I can't post a link to the character I created. Will more features be added do you think?

That looks handy, trying to find time to go back to Morrowind and try out a new character since my old build failed badly. Thanks for posting this :)

Pretty nifty :D
It's nice to be able to see everything at-a-glance, rather than having to adjust one thing, then go back a menu and scrutinize every detail.

I actually met the maker of this little chargen tool on the Beth Forums, only a few days after I discovered it actually . He said that he's still interested in working on it, and asked for suggestions. I can take anything that others might want from this kind of tool and send him a PM if you'd like.

Wow. Thank you, OblivionDuruza, for this little marketing stunt. There's no better kick in the arse to get a move-on than such an exposure. :)
I am now so completely humbled I just had to register (and get yet another forum to follow) and thank you all for the nice comments.

And an attempt at an answer: yes, I definitely intend to expand the thing and add a much easier way to link to your character plan. At the moment it's pretty clunky indeed, because you have to hit the update button and manually copy the URL, as some seem to have discovered (or read). But I wanted to get the character creator out there as soon as possible, to get exactly this kind of feedback.

I'll also be adding a contact page this week so you can all spam me to Oblivion (pun intended) with your feature ideas and comments. :) But feel free to send those over here or over at the BethSoft forums as well.

Unfortunately, I can only work on the site during evenings thanks to bill-paying work and two little kids, but it's far from dead or finished.
I see I'll also have to eventually check out the Oblivion character planner to see what that one offers.

BTW, is anyone bothered by the ads? I'm planning to throw out the banner at the top since most humans have developed banner blindness by now and redesign the site a bit. The vertical one is staying in its House Dagoth confinement, though. What can I say, it makes me giggle. :)
Oh, and if you are or know a friendly designer, willing to spend a pro-bono hour on the damn thing, let me know.

No problem Yogi  I've been meaning to PM you actually, so it is most fortuitous that you have joined. Welcome to the Forums by the way! You might even like to introduce yourself to the wider community, here.

A user over at the other site I posted this, noticed a small problem with this character, which incorrectly lists Hearth Heal as an available starting spell when it was not in-game. Might be something to look into with the Restoration skill level.

Anyway, thank you for creating this wonderful char. gen tool for Morrowind and thanks for sharing!

Aye, I noticed it as well with my Khajiit Monk and started a thread regarding starting spells over at the BethSoft forums. I've already received some helpful replies regarding chance-to-cast over there (not skill level as I also thought at first and definitely not having it among majors/minors, as the Restoration page incorrectly states), so I have to check that out. And if I don't get any good results, I'll post the question here as well. Either way, I'm on it!

Hm, I can't even post links in quotes? OK then...

Ah, that would be because you haven't been 'confirmed' yet. I'll see if I can get a mod to add you to the confirmed user group, but it will happen automatically after 10 'counted' posts and 7 days.

Also, I can correct the Wiki Page if it incorrectly lists inclusion in the Major/Minor skill set. If you wouldn't mind PMing me or simply posting your findings somewhere I'll get straight onto remedying it if applicable.

Why not? Restoration as a minor grants Hearth Heal as a starting Spell... ?

I think only the characters that get a racial bonus with certain spell types can gain a free spell when the skill is a minor. I think it's like a skill of 25 to gain a starter spell.

Hmm. I've only been a breton recently, but I'm sure I've gotten Hearth Heal with every character for whom I've ever selected Restoration as a Minor... Guess I'll fire up the game and check, hah
EDIT: Yep, Orc, Restoration Minor = No Hearth Heal.
Damn, learn something new every day.

At the risk of going completely off-topic, I was informed (and seemingly completely correctly) over at the BethSoft forums that it really is based on chance-to-cast. If the character has a 62.5% chance of casting any of the spells marked as starting PC spells, they get it, regardless of the spell's school of magic being among the major, minor or misc skills.

To stay on-topic, I'll do my best to integrate that into my chargen tool, which is dangerously close to being renamed to character planner, because I like that name a lot of more now. :)

Sounds good to me. And makes sense, because even some of the characters who actually did start off with the Hearth Heal spell had a hard time casting it. I wonder about the Misc. Skill part... but, it's probably pretty rare to achieve that high a cast probability with a Misc. Skill anyway.

Aye, I modded a somewhat generous racial bonus to Restoration just to check that major/minor skills didn't have anything to do with it. It was just an experiment, and I'm pretty sure it isn't possible in an unmodded game.

Just to clear up any doubt about the issue, the user who reported it found the error after he used the tool to plan a new build and then made it in-game, finding that he did not have Hearth Heal (i.e. he found it through practical experience).

But yeah, any findings that are made can be added to the Wiki. It's this kind of testing that can be really handy, because it's this kind of info that you don't usually stumble upon.

This user has a name :P
If I knew that the creator of the site would read it I'd have worded my comment nicer, so apologies for my gruff manner

Actually, I created the build in-game a few days prior and used it to test the site. Still, the outcome is the same.

Great site by the way, it'll save all of us a lot of trouble.

The site underwent some massive backend changes. I fixed the starting spell bug as well.

I've just added a sharing feature to the character sheets which should simplify sharing (no more need for URL updating). At the moment it's just BBCode, which most forums use (like BethSoft and UESP) and straight URL sharing for other uses, with social in the works.

Awesome! I find the Character Creator awesome for my role-playing. How did you even create this? It's cool. :D

Thank you! :)

Believe it or not, I created it in PHP using nano, of all things. :P

And since I know that's not what you meant, I created it because I really wanted something like that for myself (I'm an obsessive roleplaying planner) and figured someone else might find it useful, so I also put it online. And now ideas for more stuff are flowing like the Odai, but time doesn't cooperate much.

EDIT: messed up a quote. *sigh*

The sharing feature is great. It actually saves a lot of typing :

Quote:
My character:
Male Dark Elf
Birthsign: Thief
Specialization: Magic
Favored attributes: Strength, Agility
Major skills: Long Blade, Marksman, Destruction, Block, Speechcraft
Minor skills: Light Armor, Mysticism, Sneak, Security, Armorer

Maybe for the future, an ElderStats style image would also be an idea.
