Someone else might be able to answer this better, but it looks like the game is having trouble locating and loading some of its files.

How did you install it and how are you playing it now? Is you DVD at all damaged?

I thought as much. Can you perhaps try redownloading it? It seems like the file path might be broken or that the game wasn't installed, properly.

I tried doing some research about your problem, but I haven't found much on the subject to point you to :|.

It seems to be a rather hopeless installation. The problems are of same type, and that could indicate that a part of your download went wrong. Get rid of what you have now, and try to install again.

Which OS do you have? If you have Windows 7, and it doesn't work out with defaults, you may try to install in C:\Users\*User name*\ Documents AND preferably it should be Admin account. It might also help if you took out Firewall and Antivirus and any other Security programs you have - if you have XP with latest security updates, or anything newer, an hour without security should not be that risky.

Best of luck.

Perhaps your first download was interrupted or something? I think I vaguely remember hearing about problems with Steam like this in the past.

Regardless, I'm glad it's all sorted now.

I recently installed the Tribunal and Bloodmoon expansions after completing the main quest, now how ever i get these errors causing CTD:(

Texture "Textures\_land_default.tga" count 3.

Texture "Textures\menu_thick_border_bottom_right_corner.dds" count 2.

Failed to load snowflake: Meshes\BM_Snow_01.nif.

Anyway to fix this? I am on windows 7, if i try to run as admin then the game will load but in a lower resolution to what it should be and all saves are missing. If not is there a way to uninstall the expansions without uninstalling Morrowind?

Are you using MGE? Or the Morrowind Overhaul MGSO?

You should read this FAQ.

This may be your answer:
Quote:
I’m getting a strange error: “Failed to load snowflake: Meshes\BM_Snow_01.nif”

You have to copy/paste the following text in your Morrowind.ini file (you can find it in the Morrowind folder), under the [Level Up] section:

[Archives]
Archive 0=Tribunal.bsa
Archive 1=Bloodmoon.bsa
Archive 2=Flora Glow.bsa

It must look like this.

If this doesn’t work just copy/paste the Data Files folder that you can find on the Bloodmoon CDROM into the Data Files folder of your Morrowind Installation. DO NOT REPLACE OLDER FILES IF ASKED!

hey sorry, i don't have any mods on morrowind, this only started happening once i installed the tribunal expansion. Also it seems to work fine if i go run as administrator, but all my saves are missing, is there a way to make them show?

You have to get your saved games in C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind\Saves --- in case you have it all installed regularly.

In the folder your saves should be seen as plain saves, .ess or .obse files

If you have your saves there, and the game installed properly... it should work.

If you get administrative problems with Windows 7, I suggest you use Take Ownership

Perhaps you could change your user to an Admin rather than a normal/power user? That way your save files would still be there (they are normally saved in the user's area, rather than the shared area), and your problems should go away.

For Win 7, it is very necessary to have full admin privileges to run games, or to install any software really.

Check in your user's folder. Like I said in my post before, they're stored in their, not with the rest of the game, or they are for me. Mine are under my games.

When I click on the data files option on the Morrowind launcher I can see 3 master files (Morrowind, Bloodmoon, Tribunal) which are check-able and then my save files are underneath but are not check-able? Does that sound right?

Yes, the save files remember which plugins and master files you need for them. Clicking on them will check each plugin or master file necessary for that save. It's all good!

But I can't load these saves, they won't show up when I'm in the game :(

How do I move them to the folder that Andere said to put them in?

You could run a search if you can't find them. But you should be able to just copy and paste them. Could you find them in your user area?

I would, but I can't recall now and I'm not on the Win 7 PC at this time. Tomorrow, I'll get straight on it for you!

You should be able to access it by clicking on the icon next to your username, n the start menu. From there, there should be your documents, and a folder called my games.

Sorry I can't be more specific right now .

What about starting a new game, going through the necessary... until you get your feet on solid ground AND THEN make a save, and check where it ended? By default, Morrowind saves go to a subfolder of Morrowind - not in the Users / Documents etc. build, like Oblivion and plenty of other games do. My tree is:.

If you search with *.ess, it should give you all .ess files you have, and their location. Be sure to make the search as admin. If you can't find anything, it's because
a. you have nothing
b. for some reason your saves are hidden - in this case, go Start Button > Control Panel > Folder Options.

Make sure you have
1. "Show all folders" in General tab ticked
2. "Show hidden files, folders and drives" in View tab ticked

There shouldn't be any reason for Windows to hide your saved games except perhaps
- if you have installed Morrowind for all users
- then you have played it as a certain user and made saves
- and now you're trying to reach those saves as a different user

Andere posted before I could, but I checked and the filepath would seem to be:

Program Files > Bethesda Softworks > Morrowind

Just do a properties on your shortcut, and it should take you to the folder in question, from which you should be able to find the saves folder.

The folder may be hidden, which may be why you can't find it.

Also, if you're using steam, this might be useful to read.
