I've got morrowind on windows 7, 64 bit and it runs better than oblivion. Also i dont run it on compatability mode.

When I installed it I just.. installed it. Nothing special was needed at all. My experience is the same as Spiney's, except I have Vista 64-bit instead.

Your options would be:

1. Run Morrowind in full screen and deal with the stretched screen,

2. Run Morrowind in windowed mode which preserves the 4:3 aspect ratio (although in my experience you will want the Nighteye effect because the "gamma correction" has no effect in windowed mode), or

3. Install a mod that offers custom rez (like MGE)

Is your version patched fully. That is all I can think of.
