Hi all. I played a fair bit when it was first released but have not played for 12 months or so.

considering coming back to give it a go. One question i had is whether there is a world auction house yet? The frustrating thing for me was trying to buy / sell stuff

Any other reccommendations for getting the most out of the game?

No auction house, nor any current plans to add one. I assume you were around for the introduction of guild traders?

If you've beaten most of the content already, you'll probably want to get the new DLC since that's how they're delivering new content now that the game is b2p. If you haven't obtained access to the other two alliances yet, the next major update (due March 7) will fast-track that step once you reach level 50, opening up a lot more of the game.
