Hey people 8)
I've never played any MMORPG's before and I was wondering just how big do people think the world will be? How big will each province be? If it has already been revealed I would really like to know but don't really get the comparison when people talk about WOW.

From what I understand, no direct comparison has been made (please correct me if I'm wrong). However, there are some details that I've been using as a basis.

Consider the size of Cyrodiil from Oblivion; I'm assuming that ESO's Cyrodiil will be a similar size, hopefully a bit bigger. ESO's Cyrodiil is nine times the size of a standard "zone" in the Alliance territories, and I think each Alliance has five or six zones at launch (does anyone remember what they said on this?). This gives about 1.5 x the size of Oblivion as a start, moving on to 2.5 x the size once the other territories are unlocked at Level 50, and then adding in more content after release.

Wow, thanks man :D Guess there's no need to worry about world size even though some places like Vvardenfell and southern Elsweyr (bloody Knahaten flu!) aren't in the game! Can't freaking wait!

May I just correct you here? Aren't in the game AT LAUNCH. Various interviews, both spoken and typed, have held answers in which the interviewee tells the interviewer that they intend to use at least some of those 'off-limits' areas later, in either patches or expansions.

[Necromancy | justification="correctly answering the question"]

The topic is slightly misleading, but to answer your question it has indeed been mentioned by ZOS developers that Skyrim will be roughly the same size as Skyrim in TES5 (or Cyrodiil in TES4). Each province would be about the same size for balancing reasons, or at least the sum off the playable faction locked area for each faction will be equal. Only about half of Tamriel will be playable at launch. The rest (most of Black Marsh and Elsweyr f.ex.) to be added subsequently.
So, in short, expect a total area of 5 Skyrims at launch, roughly one Skyrim for each faction and one for Cyrodiil, and eventually around 9 Skyrims in total.

I usually refer to the excellently supported development FAQ over at Tamriel Foundry http://tamrielfoundry.com/development-faq/ , but I couldn't find the question of the actual size of a map today. I know I've seen that interview though, about a year ago. Take my word for it or good luck finding it.

I remember Zenimax has said that you can retravel the places you have travelled in the singleplay tes games, so I think this means TESO has all the same size provinces as those the singleplay games have. If you want to run from one side of the province to another, it usually takes you about half hour. So you can imagine how big the map would be.

No, you cannot go to every place you could in the single player games. The areas might be the same size, or not (this is unclear at this point), but you definitely won't be able to see everything you saw previously.
