Of those, Templar seems the most congenial. Tanky heals spec. Casual "raiding," buffs, AoE heals: 10 septims says the class plays just like Guardian from Guild Wars 2.

Ooh boy, looks like I have to choose between renamed D&D class archetypes.

I'll probably choose whatever helps convey my undying rage through visceral use of blades/scythes. AKA the Nightblade it seems (AKA: The assassin).

Argonian female sorcerer in heavy armor with a 2HCW - two-handed axe - conjuring madly and healing when possible.

Take that, class-based gaming system. I must be a closet Marxist. :Twisted Evil:

Definitely healer/spellcaster maybe with a shield? I'd like to RP assuming some people here are playing Daggerfall Covenant :D

While I'm inclined to say Dragonknight, upon looking closer at the different skill trees I have to say that the Templar skillset sounds more appealing. I'll have to see how things develop though.

After looking at the Templar skill tree I may play Templar in stead of Sorcerer. Depends on the Sorcerer's healer ability.

Thanks for the information :D

Has it been mentioned if we'll be able to learn or acquire skill trees that function similar to another classes starting package?

I'd hope that as a sorcerer or nightblade I'd eventually be able to reach a point where I could turn into something like a tank. Or what passes as the "fighter" or 'warrior' getting some of the evasive stealth capabilities that I imagine the nightblade (as the base line rogue) would get.

Something mentioned about guild skill trees or something I believe was mentioned has given me a glimmer of hope on that, but I'd prefer other sources as well in addition.

Surely that'd make people really overpowered? strong damage spells with extremely high defence/sive abilities. Although I'd like to see a system like in Oblivion the jack of all trades, master of not much kinda philosophy.

The state of overpowered is relative to the available power of players. As we don't have all the available understanding of how to play we cant say anything regarding balance.

As it would also be available to everyone else if they so chose to utilize it... I feel it is by no means overpowered, but intelligent.
Spoiler:
like taking two levels of Fighter in dnd 3.5 if you're planning a martial build. +2 bab, a pair of feats, and proficiency with every armor/shield type and martial/simple weapons. Always worth a consideration depending on allowed material.

Though this line of discussion has a tendency to break down into a hybrid v. pure discussion that rarely ends on a high note due to varying examples of the definition of 'hybrid'

Heck yes we are! Daggerfall Covenant is where it's at, no worries - I'll be there! :D

After playing LOTRO, I am assuming that the classes will be similar, I probably will be a Buffer/Debuffer.

I have played an ambusher/DPS in every MMO, until now; I'll be playing an off-tank/DD in ES:O.

what's the difference between DD and DPS? aren't they both damage dealers?

Different ways of saying the same thing, Yaije. DD is more commonly used in the F2P circles, whereas DPS I see used more commonly in Sub MMOs. Irrelevant observation, maybe; but that's just been my experience.

I was originally leaning toward Templar, but I'd really need to give them all a whirl before making up my mind.

I am torn between Dragonknight and Templar at this stage, although it is more likely that I'll go with Templar.

Most probably a heavy armored daedra summoner. Always liked to have some pets to do my dirty work. For the race most likely dunmer and the weapon, maybe something two handed, just for fun.

All I hope is that your class won't force that class's armor type on you. I prefer clothes in TES and Fallout. I never wear armor, yet I can survive, even succeed.

SO far it's been pitched that you can wear whatever. I'm guessing teh only forcing going to be in play will be something like skyrim where as a caster it's better for you to wear robes for regen purposes early on. Of course with the part where you don't get to make armor work just as well for it as it's an MMO or soemthing or other.
