Ever since I joined the Dark Brotherhood, I've wanted Astrid's mask. Badly. So, I go through the Dark Brotherhood quest hoping that at one point or another, they'll reward me with a mask that looks like that. Then I receive that token as bonus for a contract, take it to the seer, and she tells me to go to Hags End and claim an ancient assassins gear. So I go to Hags End, and fight dozens of enemies, all just to be able to have that sweet looking mask. I finally find the dead assassin, take his ancient shroud armor, put it on, go to third person and... the mask still is just hood. No ninja like mouth thing. Is this a glitch? In all the pre-release footage of the Dark Brotherhood, they've had the mask with the mouth thing. I've heard online that it won't show up if your character has facial hair(mine has light shadow, not exactly a beard), but I doubt that. Has this happened to anyone else?

Yeah this happened to me aswell, and the thing is, it's not a helmet. You are able to wear the cowl AND a helmet at the same time. Fx. I wear the Cowl and "Krosis" at the same time. Gives 50% bow dmg.

So where do you get it from? I got the Shrouded Cowl as well but mine also had no facemask, which I thought was odd because I also had an item called "Shrouded Cowl Maskless" and it looked exactly the same.

Hi, I just joined the Dark Brotherhood and recieved my armour and shrouded cowel but i would really like to find out how to get Astrid's Cowel which also has the face mask because it looks great. Anyone know how to get it or is it unobtainable for some reason. :|

Sorry to bump and post right after myself, but I felt this was worth bringing to the OP's attention. I think this does have to do with beards. I took the same cowl and gave it to my companion, and it had a facemask when she wore it.. not for me though, and my Nord has a beard. :(

I don't have a beard, and I am a breton.

Very bizarre.. Maybe it's a male female thing? I'm noticing at every female I put the cowl on it has a mask. All of my male followers, no mask. Even the male Brotherhood Initiate has no mask on his cowl.

Can anyone confirm if the same glitch happens with the Nightengale mask?

The reason this happens on females followers is cause it only works on females, It works on any race as long as your not a male :/ and ancient shroud armor? i don't remember getting that quest?
