Just open the data option in the Skyrim launcher and tick whatever isn't ticked. If you are using Nexus Mod Manager..then don't worry they are active.

It's now fixed itself, but lost all mods and save games.

Aurielius - Didn't work, they were all ticked already. First thing I thought of.

Nothing I could think of worked, so I turned Laptop off, turned it on again, loaded up Skyrim, everything was gone but it all worked again as it should.

Lost 7 characters with around 150 hours between them... It's just wiped the saves completely.

Well... That's a little odd. I've had the "Failed to enumerate subscribed files" error plenty of times in the past, but it has never wiped my saves. Or removed any mods. Things usually worked just fine for me if I ignored it.

It's a Steam error, though. If it happens again, just wait for it to sort itself out or restart Steam a few times. Still not sure how all your mods or saves would end up wiped, though.

I have had one save delete itself randomly, though, but it was unrelated to a "failed to enumerate subscribed files" error.
Do you have Steam Cloud synchronization enabled for Skyrim? I've heard that if you don't allow it to finish synchronizing after playing Skyrim, it can wipe out your saves. I have it disabled and none of my saves have disappeared for a long while. Whether or not that's actually the case I don't know.

Steam can get annoying.

Yes, that's on.

New error now - can't download Subscribed mods, steam error 16.

Try again later to see if Steam has straightened itself out. That reminds me why I switched to the Nexus for mods. It's a heck of a lot easier rather than dealing with Steam and its problems.

You might want to try disabling Steam cloud synchronization, though. If that was what ate your saves, disabling that might prevent it from happening again.
I disabled it because it caused problems trying to play Skyrim after a CTD. With nearly 50MB in the cache, it took forever to synchronize.

It's just Frostfall it's refusing to work with so far...

I'll try again later.

Error 16 usually does just go away after a while. I tend to get impatient and try over and over again until it works. Sometimes it's right away!

Sometimes it's not...

I agree turn off every in game link to steam run it in offline mode and switch to Nexus Mod Manager....it's far far better at managing your load order than Steam. Besides it will keep a folder of all your mods for re install if necessary and current version allows export/import of load order.

I don't really think there's much you can do for it, aside from wait it out or repeatedly restart Steam until it decides to work.
Although apparently I'm getting it this time as well. It is saying "Failed to enumerate subscribed files" when I go to edit my load order (because I don't use NMM since it keeps messing my load order up). It's not like it really matters for me, since the only mods I'm subscribed to on Steam are the unofficial patches.

Seems to be working again at least now. Thanks everyone.
