Hey guys,

Currently I am playing as a character (Azorius Secundus) which I used in Oblivion (Azorius) as well, but I am planning to start working another character for the sake of roleplaying and doing the thieves guild/dark brotherhood (never completed the questlines of those two factoins). The character will be a female using a bow and daggers, without wearing armour.

However, there does not seem a lot of clothing which is not skirt/dress like. Sneaking around in a dress seems somewhat odd; do you guys have any ideas about fitting clothing? So far I could only come up with the Hammerfell Garb. I am playing the vanilla game, so mods are no option sadly enough.

Greetings,
Azorius

If mods are out of the question, you could also use miner's clothes (though they look rather grubby), one kind of fine clothes also looks mostly like a trousers plus long coat set. But the best choice would be college robes or Cicero's clothes, I think. They have a very adventurous feel, look sensible on a female model and also have useful enchantments on them, especially if you're planning to use any magic (some Illusion and Alteration would be useful).

Miner's clothes are good apart from one thing. They are just a white shirt, black trousers and brown belt. There is another one like it with brown shirt and green trousers. However for some reason on female characters it makes their breasts bigger. I have no idea why.

Here is a picture of the clothes.

Oh, and of course I meant Cicero's clothes without the crazy hat. ;) Boots and gloves aren't so hot either, I would replace them with something else, probably the Shrouded clothes mage assassins get from DB.

If you have Dawnguard installed, the dunmer outfits might be a possibility as well.

The dunmer outfit is from Dragonborn.

-Hammerfell Garb might look good, but it sounds like you intend to be sneaking a bit, and when sneaking in that garment the cloak clips through your legs, making it a huge no-go for me, personally.
-Miner Outfits and the 'Clothes' carried by legionnaires both seem to have magic breast enlargement power, but, if that doesn't matter to you then they'd considerable.
-Dunmer outfits from Dragonborn are quite good, if you don't mind the bright colours.
-The college robes bought from The Radiant Raiment in Solitude are unenchanted, giving you a chance yourself to choose.

Honestly I'd say your best bet would be to go to Radiant Raiment, and just buy one of every outfit, then just have a look at them all. It won't cost you more than around 600gold, and less if you already know of some you won't like, good luck though, I've had this problem in the past myself, I usually just give up and go for armour

Yeah, I got Dawnguard/Dragonborn/Hearthfire :). Thanks for the ideas guys! I'll look into the Miner's outfit and Dunmer outfit first. I might actually use the Tavern clothing though; stumbled across it on the wiki and it seems pretty decent, but I need to check it out first. I can get one without murdering someone.

Found some mods on the internet regarding female clothing by the way... how does this possibly fit in the lore :| .

Definite yes to the freckles, definite no to the ridiculous boob-fest. It's beyond me why anyone would want to turn Skyrim into something like this, you probably need to be under influence of 12 year old boy's hormones to understand the appeal. ;)

To be honest I want the exact opposite with my female armour. Nudity is fine, so is having someone be attractive. So don't think I'm a prude. But female armour that has no practical purpose like a chainmail bakini is a pet peeve of mine. I like armour that well, protects people. When the male armour does and the female armour doesn't it is just weird. Example boob plates. First off they serve no purpose as your breasts would fit under a regular cuirass. Second they will make swords go inward towards your chest, something you want to avoid. They just serve to get you killed.

I would prefer female ebony armour that looks like this:

Rather than this:

However even in the base game not all female armour has boob plates. There are plenty without or with very little, the ebony is just really noticeable. Skyrim is good in this regard, especially compared to other games. There are only a few armour pieces that make no sense.

I never noticed it before... well I noticed the chesticles on Skyrim women... but not so much in the plated armour.

You are 100% correct. Boob plates not only look silly, they are impractical.

Tavern clothes are a good bet for some jewlry, and they cover more than whatever lonely male made that reveiling armor that Blackbird posted. I burn it :reddrag: :dunmer:

I prefer college robes like others have mentioned, but if they are allowed to be enchanted, the shrouded clothing set always seemed cool.

Tavern clothes are worn by every single sex-bait character in game. They don't cover anything.

Have you seen Blackbird's? Tavern clothes cover up more than well...that "armour" or should I say harem cover almost nothing that if were real would make the woman so dirty from the dirt and dust and makes lazy males unimaginative?

My assassin wore the mourning clothes for a while just for fun. Although you might want to have a high health if you choose that route. Just sayin'...

Yeah, the Tavern clothes are a good pick because they add some jewelry to your character (which is a good thing for someone who loves goooold). It seems to be good enough for the purpose of sneaking. In the mean time, they do not turn your character in some kind of medieval attention 'seeker'.
Br3admax wrote:

You must be joking right? They cover practically everything compared to the ridiculous 'armours' I have posted before. Tavern clothes show your characters' cleavage, but that is nothing special. Some vanilla in-game armours are way more exposing.

Yeah, Skyrim delivers a pretty good job by ignoring the usual boobfest in games :) .

May I add in the aspect that one of the best light armors in the game is the most revealing: Forsworn. Trust me.
There is a little bit of butt on the woman's version. I haven't encountered a vanilla armor that is more revealing.

Hmm... how could I forget about this piece of uhm... revealing armor.

I wonder if a male or female developer designed this.

Whoever it was, they apparently don't know anything not only about armor, but also about dressing appropriately for the weather. That Forsworn lady would die of exposure within an hour.

(edit:) I just facepalmed so hard I almost got a nosebleed. I went on Nexus to see if there was a mod with a more reasonable version of Forsworn armor. And instead I found a whole bunch of mods with even more skimpy versions. Including the topless one that you'd need to skin exactly one smallish squirrel to make.

Revealing less than others doesn't make one better. That was not my point at all. When an NPC like Alva or the "Sultry Maidan" can wear it, it's not the clothes that anyone trying to cover anything would wear.

Which is why Forsworn armor is ridiculous and the modded, skimpier versions even more so, since it's not worn by strippers, but by warrior women running around cold and misty mountains. ;) I'm not dissing those mods because I think that almost nudity = bad, but because they are meant for characters who spend vast majority of their time doing things that no sane person would do dressed like that (that is, anything other than posing for pictures while sprawled on the hood of some slick and overpriced sports car).

Then again, nothing says "Don't [&@%!] with me" than running around in a bikini 3HKOing dragons and just owning everything.
