So, I'm a level 32 female Imperial Thief Guild Master with three houses (Breezehome, Vindril Hall, and Honeyside). I have had Kharjo as my companion forever, but alas, I am unable to marry him (damn you, Bethesda!)

I (and my character) am not the type of girl to just pick up the first guy I return his lost sword to. I'm looking for a male marriage candidate who, preferably, is a follower, relatively good looking, and can actually pull his weight as a husband (owns a shop/can swing a sword/cast a spell without killing himself). It's a tall order, I know, and that's probably why I haven't found anyone yet. If anyone can post ideas for the perfect male marriage candidate, that would be great.

(I'd also like for him to be able to move into one of my homes.)

I believe the Wiki has a list with all Male NPCs that can be married along with pictures, the list also tells you if they can be a follower or not.

The list can be found Here

You think?
I can't think of anyone that would meet even half of does requirements.

Edit:Actually, two people do come to mind.Marcurio & Onmund. You'll have to decide on the good looking part yourself :)
Edit 2:By "swing a sword/cast a spell" do you mean a husband that can do both or one that is specialised in one of these areas?

Both of my girls are married to Onmund because he is the best. Marcurio was way too cocky (only room for one of those in the family). Onmund is very helpful with a good wabbajacking as a follower, he is cute and kind and fun. And I like the idea of my very bad girls being married to a sweetheart...that he forgives them for everything. Ha.That is my suggestion. By the way, Onmund will also open a store and continuously feeds you. There used to be a glitch where he would get stuck in block and/or lose status as a follower if you moved him out of the college. I don't know if these glitches have gotten fixed but I know how to avoid them. Keep him as a follower and THEN move him into the house...then release him and ask him to follow you again, you shouldn't have any problems. With the getting stuck in block, it happens if he goes down and you try to heal him.

Keep him alive and strong by wabbajacking him, he only maxes at level 30 anyway and you are past that, so if you need info on the wabbajacking trick look up on youtube or I can pm you. Give him good gear, potions, staffs, scrolls, etc. When he goes down on his knees and is about to die, DO NOT heal him. Let him heal himself. I don't know what it is about this but when I stopped healing him, I had to stop reloading because he stopped getting stuck. And that is all. He is quite fun. And adorable.

i had my nord noble marry balimund, primarily because he's big friendly guy that works the forge by the keep and he's a blacksmith and hard-working, all my chars have been blacksmiths and i like balimund's personality too i feel he's a little underrated

no, i just meant somebody who can actually fight/defend himself, not some random miner guy.

Onmund sounds like a good guy. in my quest for husbands, Marcurio crossed my mind, but then I hired him as a follower. WAY too sarcastic.

i'll get onmund as a follower and see how it goes from there. i'll let you know if i need more advice.

Turning into a bunny is good! The times I have wabbajacked I have the staff in one hand, and heal other spell in the other hand. Because sometimes it will blast them with something that will hurt so I take the opportunity to earn some restoration points :D. Anyway, hit them with the wabbajack, let them turn into an animal (crab, bunny, chicken, dog, whatever) and wait until they poof back to normal. They should be good to go after that, it seems to work for me my followers end up being more effective. Make sure you take ALL the gear you gave them, including potions, etc because the wabbajack trick erases everything they have in their inventory except for their default gear.

well, because of a massive bug i should have read up about, onmund is now officially NOT a marriage candidate anymore. *sigh* can you think of any more? someone who can fight back, who's a follower, and who's good-looking?

My character ;) but seriously, did you ever think about a Companion? They can clearly fight, are followers, and since I am a dude, I cant decide the good looking part, but you can. Also, I think they can not die, so they would be good canidates.

Edit: Vorstag would also be a good choice.

How about one of the Mercenaries? Stenvar, and there is one in Markarth that is pretty good looking too. Sorry about Onmund, it took me a while to figure out how to combat the bug and now for some reason it doesn't exist in my game anymore.

stenvar just sits in hjerim and gets drunk and he's rather unscrupulous

And that is why I killed him. My high class elf was not thinking at all when she married him. But the ordeal is over now. Although he was great in battle. So if she is looking for someone that is a good fighter, he be that...although he isn't very good looking. Hhmmm....I'm not sure anymore now. :/

i swear to god i wish they could have put in option in to marry Kharjo. All of this would be much less painful.

I may have to settle back on just wearing the amulet constantly and seeing where it gets me. it brought forth some interesting candidates, i can tell you that.

Best husband I've found in the game, for me, is Lydia.

I like marcurio but as a stuck up elf there was no way it would have gone well. And even though he and my assassin hit it off well to begin with, I thought about having to hear his comments all day everyday and I couldn't do it. lol

I think I found my guy. His name's Roggi Knot-Beard. He's actually kinda hot, he's a follower, he can swing a sword pretty well. the only thing he's lacking is property, and every husband sets up shop anyway. what o you guys think? prince charming? or a bit less.....

scratch that. turns out the only thing Roggi is good for in a fight is running away. he's a total wimp. back to the drawing board i guess.

Aha,then things get a lot easier:
Vilkas,Farkas,Argis the Bulwark,Roggi Knot-Beard or Vorstag (which I think is the best candidate for you  )

He's actually pretty good in a fight if you give him proper gear and a level up with Wabbajack.

sorry, new to the forums, didn't know.

i've seen vorstag before, and although he might not appeal to the thief side of me, i've been walking around with a talking dog for a bit (kinda ruins your sneaking ability). i might give him a whirl, see where fate takes us.
