I based a character off of myself and only gave him items I actually own.

He wears:
Miner's Clothes (white)
Imperial Bracers (Fine)
Shoes (the brown short ones without any sort of design)
Gloves

And uses:
Longbow (Fine)
12 Iron Arrows
Steel Sword (Superior)

Oh I also have a set of party clothes. Fine boots, emperor robes, and diadem of savant.

My Nord barbarian, my main, owns a full suit of Glass and Dragonscale, but he's wearing full Scale now. With his Smithing skill it's over the max AR the game acknowledges anyway, and it's enchanted powerfully.

My Khajiit is in full Daedric. He's the fist fighter. Also enchanted.

My Imperial is a lowbie in full light Imperial except for leather bracelets of major archery. He's a sneaky bow user so he doesn't focus on armor. He wears light on purpose.

My lowbie Dunmer Battlemage is still in enchanted Iron and Banded Iron, but he's under level 10. He intends to sport Daedric eventually, although using the Conjuration method to acquire it.

My Dunmer full mage is still wearing Morokei and Archmage's robes.

My level 47 Breton spellsword uses legendary Dragonscale gauntlets and boots, the Mage's Circlet (maximum version), and Master Robes of Restoration.

My other favorite look is the standard Dovahkiin with studded armor, and my modded light steel gauntlets, helmet, and boots.

I don't always adventure, but when I do, I wear:

Nightingale armor
Orcish Helmet.

Other times I wear the Alik 'r stuff...It's cool looking and lore friendly.

Other than that, full dragonplate armor.

True, but I'm hoping in a future Hammerfell game or expansion we can see their ceramic armor.

On my first lvl 81 male Nord character I used the TG master gear when I got it. By the end I went with full fur with brown/cream hood. Much harder, but looks the part.
My second lvl 65 female Bosmer, I went straight for Forsworn, except for again using just a brown/cream hood.
After these two plays I was interested in giving Heavy a go. Seeing ebony and liking it so much.
So my current lvl 50 male Redguard, is using ebony, with ebony mail. It has a better look than the standard ebony. But again, I am using a hood. A priest hood in fact. There is some thing about helmets that I don't like. When I enter cities/towns I remove my hood, if I'm there to conduct 'normal' business.

My male Nord is usually equipped with Steel Plate Armour. To me, it just looks the coolest out of all of the armours available, and (because my Smithing and HA skills are at 100) it doesn't make a wink of difference in protection. (Plus, Steel Plate was originally supposed to be called Nord Armour)

My Dunmer mage is currently wearing:
Leather boots
Imperial Heavy Bracers
Fur Armour (The short-sleeve version)

He looks badass.

My Breton Assassin:
Morokei
DB boots and gloves
Ebony Mail (Only recently switched it for my DB armour)

In towns my Breton switches to Thalmor Robes (keeps his gloves and boots on)

He looks even more badass.

My female assassin/thief wears hide armor, hide bracers and goes barefoot for better sneak-ability. In towns she wears Tavern clothes so that no one would suspect her as a thief/pickpocket. Plus, I just like how she looks in them 8)

Welcome back, monsieur.

My assassin will wear the yellow/brown dress in a town to appear as a harmless civilian, and the Hide Bracers actually blend in seamlessly with that outfit. Their enchantment ensures that she stays quietly lethal even in this harmless disguise.

While wearing the black Mourner's dress, however, the Leather Bracers are a better fit.

The odd thing is that I've thought that this would be a nice enough outfit for a bride to wear at her wedding. Ironic, then, that this picture shows her initiating divorce proceedings...

Yes, it is very important for us assassin types to wear regular clothing. Both of my characters have a wardrobe full of clothing and I switch dresses every few days or so when Im in town. So far, I like the fur armor better on my assassin and I can improve it somewhat. Maybe I will eventually switch to hide or leather. I like that it weighs less than glass or nightingale armour and it doesnt look bulky.

Halter necks always do good things for already-great collar, so that part certainly works. It does look fitting, but it's also a two piece by the look of it. Which might make things easier when cleaning all those burn marks off the skirt :D

One of my favorite looks for my Imperial:

No, not at all. You can see the Imperial is wearing Farm Clothes, DB Bracers, and an ancient Nord amulet, and the mage is wearing Master Robes and the same Amulet.

My bosmer has a full Legendary Daedric armour set (except for his helmet, which is a legendary-level Nahkriin), with an enchanted Daedric sword and bow and the Shield of Ysgramor. My follower, Lydia, has blades armour, steel plate helmet gauntlets and boots, and wields Volendrung. We're damn scary.

Felina the Imperial is wearing Cicero's clothes with the ancient shrouded gloves, and Onmund is wearing Blades armour set. Sylvia, my high elf, is wearing Master robes of destruction without her hood, to show off her lovely face. They are both wearing Gauldur amulet, which I cannot seem to pry myself away from. No mods, the vanilla game is beautiful as it is. :)

Well, it might not be steel. It could be Iron or something, I'm no expert on metals.
