This is a great idea I've seen done for other games and Skyrim itself, and I'd like to introduce it to you all and see if you guys would like to participate in this.

The premise is simple. Start a new game as usual, make a cool character, make up a backstory if you wish, and play the game as you normally would. There's just one catch - When you die, that's it. You're done.

Quote:
Just one rule...Dead is Dead.

1) When your character falls in battle or falls from a cliff, that's it. They are dead. Game over. No reloads. Feel free to restart, with the ole "I or II", after their names. If you so choose.

*Exception*
...If your character falls due to a glitch, the game locks up or due to any outside action and/or distraction ( kids / pets / mother-in-law ) at no fault from the player. No shame will fall upon you to revert to a previous save.

NOTE : Difficulty has no bearing in DID. It should be set, according the comfort of the player. Pending things like character build, roleplay, limits, mods, and experience, this can easily vary among players.

If you want to try a run, feel free to list your new characters, with a backstory if you like. As well as, their starting stats and limitations. Update your progress. Much like the "Where are you now", thread. It's really not any different from most of your guy's/gal's playstyle...aside from the dead and done part.

When and if that happens, post their name, date of passing and any info you want to reflect on their tomb. I will list them in the OP, so they will be forever remembered.

If this is all good for you guys, feel free to start it up. This post will be used as a grave listing for fallen PC's that have attempted this challenge.

Quote:
Player Tomb Listings :

1) I will list the players in chronological (in order of death) order

2) Any info on your char will be added, to their grave, according to your post.

3) Each character's grave will be limited, to 7 lines of info, for simplicity and unity. I will be more than happy, to tie a link to your character's name for pics and stats.

Fighting level 2 bandits in a dungeon, then a roughly level 20 bandit chief comes out and instant kills though 120 DT and does 100 damage with a steel warhammer in one single strike, non power attack. Great job on making NPCs get +70 extra damage for no apparent reason, Bethesda. What would we do without game balance like this? (What the hell should be the tombstone? "Killed by the gratitude of Game-balance?"^^)

Can you rephrase that so that it's coherent, please?

EDIT: I guess I'll give the challenge its' first go.

My character is Ra'Zhar, a Khajiit from Elsewyr. At birth, Ra'zhar was separated from his brother, and was raised in an entirely different part of the nation, by his father while his brother was raised by his mother.

Ra'Zhar lived peacefully in Elsewyr until he learned about the existence of his brother, Kharjo. Following his father's death, Ra'Zhar signed onto a trade caravan, traveling to Skyrim to find his long lost brother and find his fortune in the land of the Nords.

Ra'Zhar will be a mage/thief kind of character to compliment Kharjo's warrior style. I'm going to play on Adept and see how long I last.

Did this before in Fallout, Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion and Dragon Age: Origins (However I still haven't finished it in a perma-death game.) I'm sure i'll do it with Skyrim at some point in the future. It is an interesting and enjoyable playstyle.

What an interesting idea! I think I might actually try this out. Not on Adept, mind you. Too easy to be crisped by one fell swoop of a dragon, or destroyed by one arrow of a high level Draugr. Maybe apprentice?
Hmm. Which character will I create... I think I'll get back to ya!

My first session of playing Ra'Zhar has gone quite well. I got out of Helgen with Hadvar, stocked up on supplies in Riverwood, and set off for Whiterun. I ran into an old lady in the woods wearing those awesome blue mage robes. I couldn't kill the lady; Ra'Zhar is a good guy; but that didn't stop a bear from flinging her across the woods.

The bear was my first near-death experience with Ra'Zhar, simply because of my lower level and lack of more powerful spells. After some kite-and-bite, the bear was dead and Ra'Zhan was decked out in his sweet news robes.

I'm gonna hop on him again later today and see if I can get to Whiterun and take the carriage to Dawnstar.

You can do whatever you want. There's only one rule, and that is dead is dead.
You can totally ignore the main questline, do thieve's guild, be a potato farmer. It's all up to you how you play.

I'm so in. Maybe I should play on Apprentice...

Normally I'm non Novice, and you never die on Novice, except when you jump off a cliff or run head on at a deathlord.

Ra'Zhar's quest continues to go well, with the exception of a VERY close call earlier.

Day 3, level 2

As Ra'zhar left Dawnstar to continue looking for Kharjo, he spotted some sillhouettes far away from him and Faendal. Not wanting to take chances, he sniped one with his bow and began raining electrical hell, when he realized he was fighting Thalmor agents.

Naturally, this didn't sit too well with Faendal, and Ra'Zhar eventually ended up fighting two Thalmor Justicars, one Thalmor mage, one Thalmor prisoner, and his old friend Faendal.

The justicars were the most trouble, but eventually the entire group fell. I got hit by an arrow from Faendal, and noticed my health was dangerous low, so I checked ; 10 HP out of 100 left. I immediately chugged down a few precious healing potions, and proceeded to have a sniping match with Faendal, ending with the elf being shot off a very steep cliff.

Now Ra'Zhar is using the Lord Stone as a temporary campsite, and is rocking some sweet Thalmor Robes. Taking the Lord Stone as his standing stone, he will take less damage; critical in a D.I.D run.

On a most recent note, Ra'Zhar was forced to make a run through Labyrinthian as he escaped a Wispmother, sneaking past frost trolls who were much too powerful at the time.

One noticed him, but after a long fight involving nearly 50 steel arrows, Ra'Zhar escaped the aboveground portion of Labyrinthian, and is heading to Morthal.

I'll play, I'm making a Khajiit warrior type. Ba'Dazz is his name. I'm setting my difficulty one level lower that Adept, whatever that is. We'll see how long I last.

Ra'Zhar has found Kharjo, and the two are now traveling together as brothers. Currently level 4, Ra'Zhar plans to seek his fortune, starting in Dawnstar. That odd museum might be a solid place to start.

A lot has happened recently.

As Ra'Zhar poked around for a way to start the Mehrune's Razor quest, he spotted a ton of health potions in the jarl's mage's quarters, and promptly went ahead to nab a good few.

As he grabbed the last one, he was caught. Not wanting to give up his ample health potions, Ra'Zhar quickly fled Dawnstar while Kharjo covered his escape.

Ra'Zhar met up with Kharjo an hour later by the shores, and came across an argonian named Deekus. Seeing treasure that would set him and his brother up quite nicely, and began to nab the various gems that the Argonian had gathered. This quickly degenerated into violence when he was caught, and the Argonian ended up floating away in the surf.

With much stolen items to make money off of, Ra'Zhar and Kharjo set their eyes on Riften, home of the thieves' guild. There would their fortune be made.

Ka'raz, the Khajiit assassin who has a sense of honor, has begun his quest for self enlightenment in Skyrim, not knowing his fate.
(I give him a week, tops.)

Why would Faendal attack you for fighting Thalmor? Did you just attack him for role playing purposes or did he actually start fighting you?

This sounds like it will be really fun, I'm gonna make a char and post it later, although it may well be short lived as I tend to go head first into danger XD

EDIT: Ok I made my new character! He is a male Orc named Grobakh Face-Stomper. He was taken prisoner as an infant and raised as a gladiator slave to fight for the amusement of his captors. He was vicious in battle and earned the title Face-Stomper for his unmatched ability in facial rearrangement's. He escaped from his past killing the slave masters in a bloodbath and was captured when he tried to cross into Skyrim, and thats the start of the game.

Hes gonna be a 2 handed warhammer kinda guy. Probably gonna get the steed stone to kick things off.

He actually started shooting.
I think Faendal has less tolerance for assaults than other followers.

Rorkus, 32 - Orc two-handed, light armor

17th of Last Seed 4E201 - 19th of Last Seed 4E201

Fell off of a cliff near Winterhold on the way to join the Stormcloaks. Did not go as planned. No epic stories here.

Nord warriors wielding a war axe and a shield is up next.

For some reason, the more I read this, the more I feel inspired to do this. I'm going to make a character very much like me, to make it more personal and want to keep him alive more.

Stephen (my middle name, don't want everyone here knowin my first name)
He was a peaceful citizen of Cyrodiil traveling to Skyrim to visit relatives in Windhelm. Got caught in Stormcloak trap, blah blah explanation for tutorial, and will realize Skyrim is a dangerous place to travel, so he'll use weapons and armor for the first time.
Like me, he'd prefer blunt weapons, and light armor because I wouldn't want to wear tens of pounds of armor. Not very good with a weapon, so I'll be playing on Master for the first time. I'm scared, this'll be fun.

Gerd Wiesler, The male imperial assassin, self employed, and only assassinates for good cause.
Jason was born in the imperial city and watched as his mother was slaughtered by the Morag Tong at the age of five. Ever since, he has been a psychopath with the desire to kill, but has learned to control it and direct his fury upon people that only deserve it. He DESPISES the Dark Brotherhood, because they kill only for money, and not an honorous cause.
This is a character I'm planning on doing, we'll see where his journey takes him.

Haven't played Ra'Zhar yet today, homework comes first and what not.

But our first death, Rorkus the Orc, has been added to the Graveyard.

This is my new character. He is still alive.

Name: Okan-Ru
Gender: male
Race: Argonian
Occupation: Thief
Background: Once a rich noble in cyrodill, Okan-Ru started going into the black market. He would sell illegal drugs, ill gotten goods, and he would steal from his enemies. Eventually word got out and one of his servants tipped him off. Quick as a bullet he fled to skyrim. He was then arrested by some imperial guards.
