Ebony or glass, but the helms all look ridiculous. I'd rather see my character's head.

Of the options given, Ebony, particularly on a female body. Glass second, everything else far behind. Don't care for demon chic. Of the options not given: Steel Plate.

Second the helm sentiment. Jan 2012 my friend! The modern gaming "hide helmet" option cometh.

Elven is light, in that case I'd rather have the Nightingale set.(just on looks, not counting the perks)

Ebony looks nice, daedric is sick, dragon looks a bit gawdy to me. Glass is mehh

In the ones mentioned: Dragonscale>Glass>Ebony>Elven>Daedric>Dragonbone
My favourite out of every armor set in the game has to be nightingale though.

All of them? >.>

Erm... after looking up images I must say heavy dragon armor looks a bit...odd, the helmet looks decent though. Light dragon armor is okay'ish. Ebony looks great, as does Daedric armor (I love that helmet). Glass and Elven are also good.

Other than dragonbone, they all look great. My favorite from the looks of it would be Daedric armor, I think in every Elder Scrolls game the Daedric armor has always been my favorite, in terms of how it looks.

I'd like the glass one again (loved it in Morrowind and absolutely hated it in Oblivion), but it doesn't scale down to tiny Bosmer. It looks unreasonably bulky. The steel ones look the best from the heavy tree, I'm not one for the daedric fashion (with no sense of self-protection, guys, why not wear high-heels for combat?), and the Nightingale one... I love it. I hope someone will mod in some other versions of that as less overpowered and NOT pre-enchanted light armor, maybe in different colors like grey or brown too.

The Dragonbone armor is OK, the Ebony armor is slightly better than it used to be, and the Daedric is a mixed blessing. But I'd take Naked over any of them, personally. Real heroes fight barechested, and until they bring back pants, naked combat is the only respectable option.

Sure. J'ghasta was the toughest man I ever knew. Leather pants, boots, bracers. Barechested. I keep a pair of Ragged Trousers handy, as its the only way I know of to go shirtless.

Some bandits wear a shirtless version of Fur Armor.

I like Glass. Elven is cool too. I would like Ebony more if it wasn't for the fact that you cannot see your character's face with the helmet.

I find it funny how it has a better armor rating than the hide armor.

Maybe the material is there, only on the more important regions...

I've always preferred the more 'grounded' armor in ES games, or armor that looks somewhat feasible. I loved how I didn't get any incredibly crazy looking, OP armor in Skyrim for a large chunk of the game. Mind you, I obviously didn't spam smithing.

However, I enjoy the look of glass and ebony armor. I really like the unique Ebony Mail, as it feels more "slim". Dragon Bone looks interesting at first glance, but eventually starts to appear bulky. For my original character I played through, for the first time, in full heavy armor. Being two sizes down from the largest body mass, by the time you reached Dwarven (which I altogether skipped with my enhanced iron armor) you look ridiculous. The pauldrons are primarily what adds to the bulk, which is one reason why I enjoyed the lower level armor and their pauldron-less alternatives.

But thats not a complaint, or a desire for pauldrons to be separate again. It was fun doing something different, and I enjoyed experiencing the looks of all the heavy armor sets. I'm sure this goes against most people's opinions, but I've never cared for the look of daedric armor. Ever.

Weared by female character, I have found Steel Plate Armor best looking regular armor. Most of the armors, e.g. Ebony and Glass, are too broad-shouldered for my taste. The other relatively good looking regular armors for female character are IMO Dragonscale and Elven armors. Daedric armor is a special case, as the spikes make it look "airier" than it really is, but in the other hand it makes you look like a badass, being it good or bad point. From the unique armors, Ebony Mail looks good on female character in my eyes, although using it has some quirks (e.g. that smoke make you blind in specific situations, and your allies tend to take some damage when you move around while fighting). Savior's Hide is nice, but it suits best for huntress type female characters like Aela.

My kingdom for open helms! I'd love it if all helms had open and closed helm variants

Of all the armors in the game, available or not, Tsun's armor wins.

That would be pretty cool. I bet it's a relatively easy mod, too.

I am always an ebony armor fan. It looks sleek, it's nice, and it sure does make you look heroic! Daedric is impractical, I think; much too heavy and it looks ridiculous. Don't bother me with that dragonbone nonsense, because that's silly as well. I can't imagine glass armor being very comfortable or stylish, and elven armor, while very well done in Skyrim, just isn't my sort...although it is rather lovely looking.

I agree Avron. Somehow open-face helms seem to always get an absurd armor rating in mods  . I love Ebony also. Besides that, I actually like Daedric and Elven, and also Dwarven. Dragonbone is meh, but it's not terrible, and works for a warrior character.

I agree with one of the other posters -Daedric looks cool but the asymmetry bothers me, I just can't stand the helmet or shield. I love the Ebony armor and Nightingale armor, havent done elven or glass but it looks like the look better than in oblivion, the other armor I like the most is Steel Plate armor

Ok, I got my hands on my first set of Dragon stuff. The Dragonscale armor beats anything... it's so... pretty, very much overpowered, but it actually looks like a light armor, even more light than the leather ones. It scales down to or just fits perfectly on my "little elf" Bosmer, like nothing but the Nightingale set. I'll keep it. For some reason it gives off a barbarian warlord feeling... I might just give one to all my followers too, lol. I have one problem with it though, the helm... it's somewhat strange, I think it should curve closer to the face on the front or something, it looks like it's not put on right.

I'd like the Dragonbone too, but that one has a problem with the cuirass part, the shoulder thingies are way up, looking as if the person wearing them were shrugging constantly.

Daedric is too devilish (and too Power Rangers) but since it's the best armour... Though I still prefer Dragonbone.

Bah, I think I'll wear things based on aesthetics and not on armor rating...

I noticed something on the loading screens. Now that I have Dragonbone/scale, the screens keep showing them, but the HELM, the dragonscale helm, it's closed. Not the one we get, but almost fully closed. Anyone else noticed this? Couldn't get a good look at it though (neither a screenshot), my loads only last some seconds. I'd kind of like that closed version more...

I like the looks of glass armor with one of the dragon priest mask......... It's perfect for my assassin. He's all mysterious and what not with his face covered.

I like Daedric because I fancy the idea of walking around like that in a middle of a village market. Elven armour makes my character look fat.

Glass is cool if not a little showy.
