The other day I entered and cleared Yngol barrow, and inside a bunch of little blue orbs started following me. As you go along, more and more pop up until you reach the end of the ruin and you have about 15 little blue orbs floating around you. they follow you all the way to the entrance, but stay inside the barrow. Anyone know what this means, or if it's related to a different quest?

You didn't find a wisp mother? Because I would assume you saw wisps ((they are usually friendly till you run into the wisp mother that gets them to attack you))

These are way different than the wisp orbs.

I was wondering the same thing when I cleared the dungeon, but don't remember any journals explaining what the the hell was going on. There was a dead altmer scholar at the beginning where you find the first orb. Wasn't this the dungeon where you can get the cool draugr deathlord helm?

I had this, are you talking about the blue circles that bounce off the walls and everything? If so, they just followed me through a door (I think I was on a quest) and brought to life some Draugr if I remember.

Blue orbs that give life to dead bodies causing draugr to attack? That sounds a lot like a Fable rip off with their "Hollow Men"

Haven't played Fable, but these orbs bring to life one particular dragur at the end of the dungeon, I believe.

If anything, it's probably a cheap shot at Fable. They are just annoying, constantly irritating me and bouncing off everywhere while I move.

I did see them too. I did not observe that they did anything special. I just figured it was more of a ambience thing.

I did not pay attention to them once I realized they were not wisps, and would not be harmful, so I did not see if they did, or did not bring the Dragur to life. If they did, that would make more sense than to be there for just visuals.

They don't bring the draugr to life. When you open the door, the dragon priest won't spring to life until you walk into the room. If you remain in the hallway, nothing happens and the little orbs just bounce around making bloop noises while the fog effect in the room ahead glitches constantly.

I saw these as well. Some seem to come out of the "coffins" the draugr normally do, but not all. If I had to guess I would say they were supposed to be spirits who are being held there by Yngol's shade, since they follow you to his chamber and then leave when you defeat him (they did for me anyway). Just a wild guess though, no proof. I would love to know if anyone knows for sure.

There was another thread on them [Although it was more a discussion on a bug in Yngol Barrow] where someone mentioned they could be the sea-ghosts from Yngol and the Sea-Ghosts.
Reading the book, though, it seems they're more likely connected to the first Nords who died in Tamriel.

Maybe they are a leftover from some planed quest, I have seen them too, but it seems strange to make a new effect that is only represented in one dungeon without a quest?
