R.I.P. Ulundil. I passed by Windhelm stables on my way to Haafingar, and discovered your corpse lying next to the brazier near the carriage. Since dragon attacks do not occur yet, and vampire attacks are completely disabled, I assume you simply spawned in midair and died from fall damage.
I wonder whether your wife will take over as the stablemaster (mistress?)... she's going to be complaining about horses even more than she already does.

RIP Amaund Motierre
Volunruud
Err... it seems one of my mods made him non-essential since this happened:
Oswald had just met Amaund and silently accepted his grand plan of killing the Emperor. He then decided to go and have an archery contest with a nearby Draugr Deathlord. Well, Amaund apparently saw it necessary to act as a judge since suddenly he was there, standing next to the Deathlord like a retard, just watching intently. Of course Oswald managed to accidentally shoot Amaud who went [&@%!] and then got a sword through his gut.
Well... that went well XD. I think I'll reload a previous save.

RIP Proventus Avenicci. You were the one NPC I was really, really hoping would survive the Battle of Whiterun just this once so I could buy Breezehome with my current character. Of course that would have been too easy for me. Just exactly what did you hope to accomplish, anyway? You're completely unarmored and have a low combat skill. You could have ran and hid. Was it your loyalty to the Jarl or something? I guess we'll never know, and I'll never own that damned house with my Dunmer.

RIP Alvor, smith of Riverwood. Seriously civils should leave dragon killing to dragonborn.

RIP Gregor, steward of Heljarchen Hall. Yes, your thane is vampire lord. You shouldn't have attacked her. She was after those bandits attacking her house.

Why not just buy Breezehome before getting to this point in the story?

Why not just buy Breezehome before getting to this point in the story?

If you blitz the Civil War, dedicated to do nothing but get through all the missions fast as possible, it is very possible that your first visit to Whiterun will be to deliver an ultimatum to Balgruuf. He forces you to do Bleakfalls Barrow/Dragon Rising before even listening to your message. You can easily end up in a position where you're about to war with Whiterun right after being offered a house there. And, if this is very early-game, you may not have enough gold to buy it right then.

With this particular character I was getting the storyline out of the way early. Proventus wasn't a person I assumed would be remotely in danger of dying, for whatever reason. I'd previously done both sides of the war multiple times and he never died. I actually thought he was set to be Always Essential, but clearly I was mistaken.

RIP Hired Thug. You should have known that waltzing into Goldenglow Estate would trigger trouble - Aringoth's mercenaries make very bad hosts to unannounced visitors. I'm glad you came along, though, because you and the mercenaries duking it out in a battle to the death left the path to the bee hives clear and made torching them child's play. Too bad you weren't the one carrying the contract, though. Avenie would have loved to find out who hired you just so she knew whose house to clean out next.

RIP Muiri. May your soul rest comfortably in the Void.

Lesson learned: never try to cheat the Night Mother out of her rightful prayer.

Oooh. You beat me to it. I may have to steal that idea.

In the past, Cassie's practical business sense overrode her grumbles whenever Muiri admonished her for failing to kill that second victim she tacked onto the contract. Can't go killing your paying clients all* the time— makes for a bad reputation. Well, this time Casandra may just 'have a little party' with Muiri's cardiovascular system.

* For those who haven't finished out the Dark Brotherhood storyline yet:
Spoiler:
Motierre is an exception in the regards that a contract was indeed made for his death: the Emperor used his own life to make a lovely Black Sacrament in all of itself.

Well, see here's the thing:
Spoiler:
Motierre actually goes through with the Night Mother's ritual. The Emperor does not. Therefore, Felina didn't kill Motierre. She doesn't take orders from her victims.

RIP Mralki. Sending hired thugs after an assassin was a bad idea. Especially when she accidentally took a meaningless wooden plate from your inn thinking it was hers. She doesn't steal things. As Cicero says, thieves make no sense. Duh.

RIP Faendal, gutted by the tasks of a wild boar on your way to the lumbermill. Now that is a solution to the Riverwood love triangle that I hadn't encountered yet.

^^Wild boar? How in Mundus did that happen? Skyrim doesn't have boars....console gods?

RIP Kynesgrove...about half of the population. Felina doesn't know any of your names, just that she was a hazard to everyone in that town. She arrived there for a rest and immediately:

-an ancient dragon came to regulate
-Erandur accidentally cast his spell on one of the townsfolk and so Felina had to defend him when things got nasty (not to mention that woman mouthed off to her and little Imperial was already in a foul mood)
-3 master vampires and their war dogs paid a visit to the inn (like...wtf) and killed everyone
-and RIP the guards too...she did try and heal some of you but then her magicka started to run out and she decided Shadowmere's life was more important than yours

Geesh. This has been the toughest week for her ever.

There are boars on Solstheim. Maybe there's a mod that adds them to the mainland as well.

RIP Annekke, electrocuted by Onmund's hand in front of the children and a house full of guests. Why did you have to go and attack Meeko with your pickaxe? He's just an old dog happily keeping warm by the fire. Hopefully Lydia is a much more animal friendly replacement.

RIP Aia Arria and Pantea Ateia. Being bards, keepers of education and tradition, you should have known that it's bad form to meddle with a formal duel, even if one of the duellers is a member of your College. Marilyn's scimitars ensured that the duel would proceed fairly and without interference by third parties.

4E 1?? - 4E 201

You and I ransacked the Temple of Miraak, you decided to go off and murderize a Draugr only to find that it was a Deathlord. You were sworn to carry my burdens, which included as many books and alchemy ingredients as possible, despite the fact that I don't read the books or do alchemy.

Thanks for the circlets, though.

RIP Anise. Alas, we hardly knew ye.
(Mainly because you're a batty old recluse who'll murder anyone unlucky enough to stumble upon your secret)
I was approaching her cabin when I saw two figures in black casting frost magic. First I thought 'duelling mages' then 'vampires'. That was before I saw them raise a zombie bunny. Oh, necromancers. Maybe Anise invited them over for charus egg salad and dartwing tea...

...the irony is, if Anise wasn't so secretive about her true nature, I'd think those dark mages would've left her alone once they realized she was one of them.
