Hey I saw that GoatLiver started one for Stormcloaks, so The legion should have one as well! If you want to join, just say so. I will go ahead and start as a General. Just discuss everything you like about the Legion. The rules will follow the same as the Stormcloak thread. I will update the questions soon.

I'll join. I find I always lean Legion when I play the game.

As for the Survey;

1: It was a close call for me, as I think both sides make legitimate arguements. However, the factor that made me go Legion was finding Ulfric's dossier in the Thalmor Embassy, the one that says he's pretty much doing exactly what they want, even if he's not taking marching orders from them. I always RP in my head that I toss that book at his feet after delivering Balgruf's axe. Beyond that tipping point, I think the war is one big grey area with no real right answer. Which is pretty good writing for Bethesda.

2: Hmm. Unsure. I guess if I have to pick one, Balgruuf the Greater.

3: I don't think Skyrim on its own will be able to turn back the Aldmeri Dominion, when it brought the Empire to its knees. If the Dominion is to be beaten, it will take a united Empire. Hopefully with the Dragonborn's help.

4: Balgruuf the Greater would be my first pick. He strikes me as the guy who will make the wisest decisions out of all of the Jarls.

5: Unsure. The Septim one seemed stronger. But then, I actually kinda liked Emperor Mede when I met him. Almost felt bad about slitting his throat.

6: Not really.

7: No comment on this one.

8: Definitely a bad call. Ofcourse, I know from certain events in Oblivion that Talos really is a god. In Universe, they wouldn't know what I do. Its not something they should have caved to the Dominion over. Ulfric isn't helping matters with his war, though.

9: No. Maybe someday I'll make a religious fanatic character who will join the Stormcloaks, but haven't yet.

10: You mean besides removing the Emperor who signed away the people's religious freedom? I actually already did that. More seriously, I'd hope to lend the awesome power of the Dragonborn to crushing the Dominion.

11: I'm definitely a Battlemage. One Handed, Heavy Armor, Destruction and Conjuration would be my specialties.

Edited to finish the questions. Also, give me any rank you like.

I want to join!

Spoiler:
1. Why did you choose to side with the Empire?
Skyrim is the empire, it always has been for as long as there has been an empire. Nord blood sweat and tears built it and need it yo survive just as much as skyrim needs the empire

2. Who is your favourite (in-game) Legionarre or Legion supporter?
Legate Fasendil, he is an altmer so that is automatically a plus. But the main reason? He is one of the Altmer who makes it easier to make a character ( i love altmer) that doesnt support the thalmor and gives me a reason to fight for the unification of skyrim.

3. How do you think the Empire is better for Skyrim?
Because in my opinion Ulfriic is a power hungry tyrant who seeks nothing but the throne. His cause is just, but his motives are questionable.

4. Who do you think should be the High King? ( Out of Imperial supporters, of course!)
Jarl Barlgruuf. He will put his people first and his loyalties second. He cares more about skyrim and his people and tries to work in their best interest.

5.

6. Is there anything special you do when playing a Empire character (roleplaying-wise)?
I usually will change from my offensive mage tactics to healing and tactical defense. I wait, watch and listen and make a counter attack.

7. What is your favourite Legion related quote?
"I am a loyal citizen of the Empire. My parents were Legionnaires, and I've followed in their footsteps. But more importantly, I am a daughter of Skyrim and wish to see her made whole again." - Legate Rikke
8:

9. Have you ever completed the Stormcloak side of the civil war?
Yes, it wouldnt be fair for me to make my claims against them otherwise.

10: Is there anything you would change for the betterment of the Empire?
"I'm a soldier, not a politician. And my personal beliefs are not yours to question.
" - Legatte rikke. Will that satisfy you?

EDIT: I would like to be Tribune (if possible). Too bad there is no battlemage core in this thread. OR Quaestor since it appears tribune is taken .

I would like to be in the Battlemage core.

Its like a fanclub really, sort of like a safe haven with all people that like the same faction as you. As a member you can share stories, pictures or anything related to in this case the Imperial Legion. In the Great house threads of the Morrowind section some of the members across all the houses also participate in RP threads. Idea of these threads is mainly to have fun without worrying about people blasting you when they don't agree with you.

Also just wanted to suggest for your questions that you have blank you could ask;
how do you feel about the Mede Empire vs the old Septim Empire?
what are your thoughts on the Talos ban?

Just suggestions feel free to use them or ignore them xD

Well, okay...

Quote:
how do you feel about the Mede Empire vs the old Septim Empire?

I think it too early to judge fairly, but based on what I've seen I favor the Septim Empire. If only cause I'm quite fond of some of its emperors. Namely Uriel, Pelagias, and Martin Septim.

Quote:
what are your thoughts on the Talos ban?

I'm not a huge fan of Talos, however I support freedom of religion.

Quote:
Why did you choose to side with the Empire?

At first I went with the Stormcloaks, mainly cause Imperials had just tried to cut my head off. But then I switched to the Imperials, partly for moral reason, but mainly cause there the logical choice if you wish to defeat the Thalmor on a long term scale.

Quote:
Who do you think should be the High King? ( Out of Imperial supporters, of course!)

Jarl Balgruuf

So is that all you gotta do to join? Did I do this right?

I have an idea, why not add the imperial battlemage core as well. And is there some kind of sector of the legion for healers or diplomats or stealth agents as well? It would be interesting to see which specialties members would be a part of.

You could include it next to their name on the members list, OR you could include it in your survey or possibly just ask to include it in their first post.

I may be a Stormcloak, but even I know that this is a Skyrim thread, not an Oblivion or lore one.

Sign me up! I'll take any rank you see fit to grant me. As for the survey,

Spoiler:
1. I love the ancient Roman Empire and the Imperial Legion has many similarities to the Roman Legion. I'm also fond of powerful, organized militaries that fight for a good nation/empire. I believe that the Empire is the greatest thing to ever exist in Tamriel.

2. General Tulius

3. The Empire is better for Skyrim because Tamriel needs to be united to fight off the threat of the Thalmor or any threats outside of Tamriel.

4. Jarl Balgruuf

5. Mede Empire; the Mede Empire has had to go through a lot more than the Septim Empire and I think the situation has been handled quite nicely

6. always uphold the law and always help anyone unless it is an illegal activity

7. "Long Live the Empire!"

8. it was necessary to save the Empire

9. I got half way through it and decided it wasn't for me

10. weed out corruption (Maven Black-Briar)

11. sword and shield, heavy armor, speechcraft; I like to lead other Legionnaires into battle

Do I necessarily need to pledge allegiance to either side? Or could I participate in both clubs?

I tend to roleplay both Imperials and Stormcloaks, and in reality, I wouldn't support either of them.

I'd be honoured to join a Skyrim-themed variant of The UESP Great Houses, Long Live the Empire! Just a little thing, could we perhaps capitalise the thread's title please, for posterity's sake? Also, I believe it's spelt: Penitus Oculatus, and their leader in Skyrim, the game, was a Commander, if that influences things.

Right-Hand, I'm not professing to be in a position to make a judgement call on your question, but I don't see why not. This isn't about dividing the community, but nurturing mutual interests, at least, that's what was intended with the Great Houses of the Morrowind Forum.

Additionally, although the 'Clubs' were initially intended to be places to share, as GoatLiver has alluded to, they were also meant as places for high-level discussion and productivity. Roleplays are one fun activity, but other projects, competitions and collective works might also be something to consider.

Spoiler:
1. Why did you choose to side with the Empire?
I chose to side with the Empire in the Civil War in Skyrim because I feel that for Skyrim, union with the Empire is both

2. Who is your favourite (in-game) Legionarre or Legion supporter?
Rikke and Hadvar are probably amongst my favourites, although I am, for some reason, drawn to Captain Aldis and Legate Fasendil as well. Rikke, for me, embodies everything the Legion is and everything I choose to fight with it for. She symbolises the Nordic backbone of the Empire and the mutually symbiotic relationship between Empire of Man and Nord. Further, both she and Hadvar are just generally decent people; honourable, dependable and determined, no matter who they fought for, I'd admire them.

3. How do you think the Empire is better for Skyrim?
The Empire is essentially, in my eyes, a union of Man, and thus it favours the Men races. Economically the Empire provides numerous benefits with regards to trade and investment in the region, further, the combined strength of the two states provides enhanced military and law and order capabilities, but for me the biggest reason for the continued support of the Empire in Skyrim is entirely socio-cultural. To put it simply, the Nords are the Empire. We can see it in characters like Rikke, we can see it in the Talos contradiction of Ulfric's own rebellion (see below), we can see it across Skyrim as a place and in the history books which claim Tiber Septim as Skyrim's hero and the men of Skyrim as those that died by Tiber's side fo the Empire might be born.

4. Who do you think should be the High King? (Out of Imperial supporters, of course!)
Honestly, I think Elisif would make a fairly good High King, from her dialogue at the negations during Season Unending, which demonstrated independence from the Empire (that she'd not merely a lapdog), and what I see to be an embodiment of real 'True Nordic' culture. Further, although I feel that she is young, in-experienced and a little naive, I don't feel that this is not something she could not grow out of, with the proper guidance from those around her, and of course, over a short period of time as a ruler (we have to consider she's only just been thrust into the position as of the game and hasn't had time to recover from her husband's death and adjust to the new role). Balgruuf also seems like a fine ruler, although I think he might be better suited to the position of Jarl, although I would not be abject to his becoming High King. Additionally, Brunwulf Free-Winter and Brina Merilis are both leaders I respect, although again, I feel they would perform better closer to the ground, particularly in Brunwulf's case, as he really does have the issue of Eastmarch well considered. Further support goes out to Kraldar and Igmund.

5. Mede Empire vs. Septim Empire?
Both and neither. Both Empires, although specifically the Septim Empire, embody the subjugation of the Elven State and the supremacy of Man. However, for the Men races, I do support the Empire. The situation fo the 4th Era is more favourable, because the Empire has become a much more Man-centric entity, with the Elven and Beast races having generally seceded, and for me, if the Thalmor and Empire left eachother well enough alone, I would be pleased with the situation. Ideally, the Aldmeri Dominion would encompass Alinor, Valenwood, Anequina and Pelletine, witht he additions of Southern Cyrodiil (particularly the land taken from Elsweyr around the Niben) Southern Coastal Hammerfell and perhaps part of High Rock, whilst the Empire would consist of primarily Skyrim, Cyrodiil (primarily Colovia, the West Weald and the Jeralls), Northern and Eastern Hammerfell and most of High Rock.

6. Is there anything special you do when playing a Empire character (roleplaying-wise)?

7. What is your favourite Legion related quote?
I'm also free to stay and fight for what I believe in. - Legate Rikke

8: What are your thoughts on the Talos ban?
I see Talos as being a Siant-like figure akin to Nerevar or Saint Alessia, Pelinal or Saint Veloth. As such, I don't see why he need be imposed upon other races as a Divine, in a system of Alessian-Era Divines created to replace the Elven Pantheon and thus further subjugate Mer. As such, I find it ironic that Ulfric fights for Talos, an Imperial God, when the Nordic variation of Talos is actually Ysmir, indicative of how much of a connection exists between the Nords and the Empire. Ideally, he should be worshipped as the Patron of the Empire and of the Legion, but in a place higher than, yet distinctly separate from, the Divines, in the Empire of Men (but not necessarily by others).

9. Have you ever completed the Stormcloak side of the civil war?
Yes. Honestly, although they are so similar, it was less enjoyable due to the generic Stormcloak dialogue and that of Galmar and Ulfric. It felt much less honourable and noble, and for me it didn't actually feel like the 'Nordic' side (as was Bethesda's intention).

10: Is there anything you would change for the betterment of the Empire?

11. What is your specialization? ( This will allow me to label your group)
I don't tend to specialise, per se, however, I do prefer to focus on damage output over defence, and thus my Combat, Magic and even Stealth skills are geared towards damage, meaning I focus on taking foes down swiftly and avoding taking hits through maneuverability and speed.

Im an Imperial supporter , also ..
as for this survey :

1. Why did you choose to side with the Empire?
I chose to join the Imperial Legion because skyrim needs the empire , and the empire needs Skyrim . if skyrim were to stand alone against the Dominion , it would lose .
but the final straw that tipped the balance of my opinion , was what Alvor the blacksmith said to me when i asked him :
''The people of Skyrim have never been fair weather friends ''

2. Who is your favourite (in-game) Legionarre or Legion supporter?
Its a tie between Hadvar, General Tullius

3. How do you think the Empire is better for Skyrim?
Skyrim needs the trade , the food from Cyrodiil and high rock , Skyrim needs the support of the Imperial Legion as well , to stand against the dominion

4. Who do you think should be the High King? ( Out of Imperial supporters, of course!)
To be honest , Jarl Balgruuf would be the best for skyrim , then again , i see potential in Elisif , people say she is inexperienced , but how is it that you gain experience ? :)

5. Mede Empire vs. Septim Empire?
i prefer the septim empire , simply for its Great Emperors

6. Is there anything special you do when playing a Empire character (roleplaying-wise)?
No

7. What is your favourite Legion related quote?

Depending on who joins up and what they're willing/eager to do, Monkey Truth-style Lore-based fanfiction and roleplays are generally fun things that could be organised for the Arts and Roleplays Forums. Also, I think the rank of General would be appropriate for you so long as you stuck with the operation of the group :P.

Count me in. I'll start off as an Auxiliary.

1. Why did you choose to side with the Empire?

The Empire has always been in Skyrim, almost from the very beginning, or at least for as far back as history records fond memories. Like it or not, Skyrim is as much a part of the Empire as the Empire is of Skyrim. If Skyrim is the Fatherland, then Cyrodill is the Heart of Tamriel, and the body is only healthy if the head and the heart work together in harmony. I am here to ensure there are no obstructions to that operation.

2. Who is your favourite (in-game) Legionarre or Legion supporter?

I've always admired General Tullius' leadership, but I personally worked with Legate Rikke during the Cyrodill campaigns. Although he is no longer with the Legion, I also admired the courage and ferocity of Brunwulf Free-Winter. We could use more like him.

3. How do you think the Empire is better for Skyrim?

While I believe people are generally good at heart, they need a firm guiding hand to keep them in line. Discipline. Order. A sense of destiny and a higher purpose. The Empire provides this vision of a better tomorrow, and her Legion is her iron hand, making her will manifest on Nirn.

4. Who do you think should be the High King? ( Out of Imperial supporters, of course!)

By Skyrim law, which we honor as Imperials, Jarl Eislif the Fair of Solitude holds a legitimate claim to the throne. If you want my personal opinion, however, there's no better Nord for this job than Balgruuf the Greater of Whiterun. He is very popular with the locals, but has the type of pragmatic personality that's needed in this difficult times. He understands the sacrifice it takes to maintain peace and stability.

5. Mede Empire vs. Septim Empire?

Through the blessings of the Divines, Titus Mede I took the throne and saved Tamriel from 1000 years of Intereggnum. His heirs are the spiritual successors to the Septim Dynasty, even if they hold no Dragon Blood. You ask which Empire I favor? They are one and the same. The Empire is the Empire, and Akatosh smiles upon Titus Mede II. May he live forever.

6. Is there anything special you do when playing a Empire character (roleplaying-wise)?

I always wear a Legion uniform, and help those in need. I never steal, or kill without cause, or offend needlessly. I travel far and wide showing the people of Skyrim the true face of the Empire and her Legion. We are not the oppressors Ulfric makes us out to be.

7. What is your favourite Legion related quote?

"Service in the Legion is the model for the duties of Imperial citizenship" from Ordo Legionis. Every Legionaire should own a copy, in this soldier's opinion.

8: What are your thoughts on the Talos ban?

Praise Akatosh and praise Shezarr for the wisdom of our glorious Emperor, and his ability to put the needs of his people over ideology. My personal feelings about Tiber Septim and his divinity are of no concern to my duties as a Legionaire, and I will speak no more on this matter.

9. Have you ever completed the Stormcloak side of the civil war?

For the sake of a more rounded understanding of Skyrim's turmoil, I have. Most characters side with Imperials, though. It just feels right, even for a Nord.

10: Is there anything you would change for the betterment of the Empire?

We could always use more money, more troops, more supplies, but that's a matter for the Elder Council to decide. I go where I'm needed and put the pointy end of my blade in whatever the Generals need dead.

11. What is your specialization? ( This will allow me to label your group)

I am proficient in the standard Imperial long bow, the Gladius (with or without the Tower Shield) and Imperial Short Sword, the use and maintenance of Heavy Armor and through the blessing of the Eight I was born the the ability to speak and write well. I also am familiar with the cities and geography of the various provinces, and often work under cover, although I am not the "stealthy" type and mainly use my abilities in Speech and various disguises to blend into the citizenry.

You have been added. I need a few Legates, so if anyone wants it, the option is open.

Well, now that you mention is, my character was intended to be Legate Clodius, an RP character I keep in reserve. He began his career as an Auxiliary but attained the rank of Legate eventually. I'll accept the position if you think it's right for my character's talents. IMO he has the skill set of a Legate.
