I have three possible images and I have no idea which one to choose... They're all pretty obvious, so... I dunno. Dice roll.
Hmph. One it is, then.

Where's Shadowmere?

That's pretty obvious? And here I was thinking I had explored every nook and cranny of Skyrim thrice over...

OK, I see an altar of Akatosh which looks like it's been defiled by a necromancer. A troll skull, a deer skull, some bloody bones, a skill book and a steel axe. Could be Forswornish, could be vampirish. What's irritating me is the ground behind Shadowmere which looks a bit like ash (although it's probably snow and I'm fooled by the lighting and texture). No idea.

Well... It's obvious to me. I was recently there, though...

The ground texture isn't snow. I'm actually not sure what it's supposed to be, but it isn't snow. It might be some sort of mud or dirt. Maybe with some rocks near the mountain. The textures I use are basically higher resolution vanilla ones, so if you're familiar with the terrain appearances, you should be able to tell which area that's in. Assuming you run textures that are similar to vanilla.

OK, got it (after much running around all over Skyrim checking for possible locations of shrines of Akatosh in combination with vestiges of necromancy, hair-tearing and coming close to nervous breakdown). Shadowmere is on a hilltop in southern Eastmarch, southeast of Bonestrewn Crest, northeast of the Atronach stone and at roughly the same latitude as Eldergleam Sanctuary. It has three skeletons which revive themselves as you approach. In other words, in the middle of nowhere. Totally obvious.

You were right about the ground texture, it's the kind of light baked mud typical for the volcanic tundra of Eastmarch and looks just like that in my game. *facepalm*

Yeah, that one would be it.
If you hadn't figured it out, I would have posted a hint saying there was a lot of hissing in the area (from the steam).

It's your turn again, Finn.

Good thing you didn't, I probably would have searched around Dwemer ruins...

Where's Serana and what the heck is she doing there?

Well, Mzulft is close by. Not really any other Dwemer ruins in the area, though.

Pretty sure that's Evergreen Grove (or 'that place in the Pine Forest with the dead alchemist and Spriggans,' as I call it). Serana's standing by one of the stones in front of the waterfall. I'd guess your closer to the table with the dead alchemist on it.

Yeah, that's it, and I was standing on the table. (Btw I think I'll call it "That place in the Pine Forest that takes me longer to find when I'm looking for it than it takes Mauin to guess it" :P .)

Over to you again.

I've played Skyrim far too much. Was just playing it now, but it decided to crash again. That and the stuttering and lagging is getting worse... Again.
Time to start shopping for a new PC. Though I feel kinda guilty looking at new PC parts on this old thing. It's been five years (and it never was that strong to begin with, so that just makes things worse).

Right. Here's another of the obvious ones:

Where's that?
This one seems even more obvious than my last one. This one is image #2, I think.

Lol, it's amusing how one person's 'obvious' can be another person's 'haven't a clue!' :)

I'm only on my first playthrough though, so i suppose it makes sense when compared to a Skyrim veteran!

Anyway, yep, i know where that pic is. It's that barren, snowy hill with the skeleton holding a shield. You know where i mean? Yep, that's the place.

Er... No, I don't think there's a skeleton with a shield around there. That skeleton happens to have an Altar of Julianos. Or however it's spelled.
No shield, though.

Dohva got it. It's on a snowy ridge just under Shearpoint.

Your turn, Dohva.

These stairs on the left ring a distant bell... is there like a crucified skeleton about halfway up on either side? Now if I only remembered which dungeon that was...

Only if you post a selfie wearing a coat of Dalmatine puppy furs. But it's too late over here to go on a dungeon-diving tour across Skyrim - maybe tomorrow, if someone doesn't beat me to it in the meantime.

I think I have recently been there, up the hill from Dimhollow Crypt? If I'm correct, there is a word wall just over the cliff to the left. I don't believe the picture is of a marked location with a specific name, though.

Well, you're close. I think. I'm not entirely certain what you mean by "up the hill from Dimhollow."
Skyborn Altar is nearby, but the site is also closer to something else. The location might not be marked, but the location just beyond it is. A spot where four pieces are made whole once more, if you shed a little blood.

Just call it the "Nordic statue above ________."

Bear in mind that I'm still pretty much a Skyrim newb, but if I recall I also ran into Dagon's shrine while exploring the vicinity. Is that the answer?
