Finn, you can go ahead and post another one.

*out of courtesy and fairness, if you can't post a pic for whatever reason then go ahead and let someone else take the guess. That way the game continues in its OP spirit of whoever guesses correctly gets to post the next picture*

This is not a warning, I just wanted the text to stand out.

Yeah, Lord Timster said as much, I just thought I'd let someone else take it rather than me posting two in a row.

Anyway, we've had so much Skyrim up to now, time for a change,
Where in Oblivion is this?

Yes. I grabbed that shot quickly the other day when I realized no other image had been posted, so it was an easy one.

Easy, but dark - I almost mistook it for Whatsitsname, the tower near Falkreath with the spriggan in it, until I noticed the trilithes.

So, where is this?

Could've been darker. Kas'Lei had a nap in Cragslane before heading back to Riften again. The sun was rising at that point. I passed by Ansilvund and thought, "I should probably find another image. This'll do. I can't be bothered to look for another spot right now. I'm getting tired."

I'm pretty sure the location you posted comes with a certain unique weapon. It kinda irritated me a bit because the weapon was never there for Kas'Lei. She collects those sorts of things and she could never find that weapon.

Hmm, yes it does (and the weapon should be on the corpse of its owner). Should I count that as an answer, or just as a comment?

The corpse of the owner wasn't there when Kas'Lei first wandered through that area. Just the usual critters.

Just a comment. I wouldn't even know what to call that spot. Besides, I had to post two images in a row. Another can wait for a while.

Alas, poor Frofnir Trollsbane, we will never know how a mere Level 1 NPC acquired such a title. Unless it was that famous Nordic Irony once-a-day Power at work.

Anyways, that is the Troll's Lair (or perhaps Trolls' Lair?) between Cradle Stone Tower and Valthume.

edit:
Here's a question though: what would people think about changing the rules a little?

The first four times I looked at this thread the last post was "you are correct, it's your go now". The actual time-frame for people to respond to the latest picture is very small, meaning that this thread is essentially dead (or 'non-responsive') most of the time.
So is that why many of the early participants have drifted away I wonder?

What if we did this:

1. The current 'Host' posts 3-5 pictures (exact number is their choice).
2. For the next 5(?) days each player may make 1 guess at 1 picture.
3. At the end of 5 days it is open season: make as many guesses as you want.
4. As soon as all pictures are correctly guessed, the player who made the first correct guess has the choice of either being the next Host or passing it on to the player who made the second correct guess, and so on until we have a 'next Host' and go back to step 1.

If none of the 'correct guessers' want to host then either it is open to the next person who posts 3-5 pictures or we could interpret this as a message from Akatosh that we should go and do something else with our lives.

This will make the game much slower, but should mean there is going to be at least one picture for someone dropping into the thread to have a go at - most of the time.

Or is this too little too late?

Thoughts?

Exactly. Well done!

As for your suggestions, kudos for putting so much thought into this! Hmm... for the last couple of rounds the time frame for people to respond to the latest picture has varied between a few hours and a couple of days, that's not what I'd call 'very small'. In my eyes the problem seems to be that the number of people interested in playing has dwindled continually after an initial high, so I'm not sure how likely it is to have 5 people playing per round. But on the other hand, having more options per round might draw more people in... I'd be fine with giving it a try.

I'd be out if that happened. Sorry, but I just don't like that idea, Timster. It ain't what I signed up for when the idea for this came up.

The way it is works perfectly fine. It just needs more people playing who have the time to post consistently. More challenging locations would help as well; the obvious ones are done so quickly that there's almost no point in guessing. I'd also say to have people post more of Oblivion and Morrowind. Most images have been for Skyrim.

Well okay, 1 by 1 it is. Let's continue.

Apologies in advance for the poor quality of the image.
All donations to the "Buy Lord Timster a Gaming Rig so he can do Proper Screenshots" Fund received with gratitude.

So, where is Lady Susan? Bonus points for guessing the spell cued up for casting and also spotting the 'deliberate mistake' in the picture.*

<edit>

* No, 'using an Xbox' is not the deliberate mistake.

... I can't get past the 'over-cucumbered' bit... I just imagined your character as a giant cucumber.

Edit:
And now that I have purged the image of a giant cucumber CoC from my head...
Would that be the Ayleid well by Sercen?

Slightly different view.

It's between the ruin and Roxey Inn.

That would be nice indeed, but on my part the problem is that Skyrim is the only game I have a substantial collection of screenshots from. I've recently reinstalled Oblivion and half-heartedly started a new character who is now level 3 or something, so he has most of the map still to discover, and as for Morrowind I'd have to check whether my 10-year-old GOTY disc would actually run under Win 7. (The main problem is I'm currently neglecting playing in favour of writing.)

Btw Timster, I'll go for the bonus and wager that the spell is Feather. "Cucumbers and feather spell, these are words that go together well..."

"Would that be the Ayleid well by Sercen?"

It is. She is standing across the road from Sercen, loaded down with ridiculously over-priced enchanted Bandit armour.

Ah Bretons. Over-loaded by clearing a single small dungeon. Bless.

I was going for something a little less obvious on this one.
Still immediately recognisable by veteran TESers though it seems.

Okay. Over to you.

@Finn.
Aha! You are on the right track, but the spell icon is wrong. That is a Restoration / Fortify icon. The spell is Fortify Strength. Very close... :D

I have a disc that's around 14 years old which still works with Windows 7. Er... Sort of. It doesn't like modern (though my PC can hardly be called modern considering how much better most are these days) PCs. Won't recognize newer hardware and gets stuck on the lowest possible settings. Oh, Black and White... It was fun while it lasted. I miss my giant rainbow turtle.

Morrowind GOTY (which is what I have, though the discs are only two or three years old) should work. I run it on both my desktop and my laptop. Each is Windows 7.

It wasn't exactly immediately recognizable. I spent a while looking in-game (congratulations, you forced Seryna out of the Isles... At a really awkward time. It doesn't really count for her, though, since I never made a save in Cyrodiil) for Inns near an Ayleid Well. The Well by Sercen was the only one like that. Your image threw me off a bit since I hadn't quite looked at it from that angle before (even though I've run by it a lot of times).

Now...

Or does it?
Seryna: "I just had the most peculiar dream..."
Haskill: "How wonderful for you, madam."

We need a Sherlock (or Velma) emoticon for this thread really.
Based on the clues:
An island, in an enclosed bay in Mania, connected by a bridge (nicely snuck in on the picture edge, btw) -
I would go with:
"One of a series of islands just north of Cann."

Lady Susan, however, has not yet investigated the rumours of a strange island appearing in Niben Bay so we can't just nip in to get visual confirmation on that one.

You know, I don't think Seryna has had much sleep at all since entering the Isles. Been too busy fighting Order and whatnot. She's certainly not going to sleep now considering she's about to end the Greymarch. She's going to kill Thadon, then fight Jyggalag... Later. I don't have time at the moment.

It's in that region. I think the statue itself was on the first island in front of Cann. Haven't wandered over there for a while, though.

It's your turn again, Timster.

Okay, so acceptable answers here could be for either 'where is Lady Susan?'* or 'what ruin is she looking at?'
Bonus points for getting both!

(* By which I mean: where can this view be seen from?)

The compass is a bit 'glared out' in the image, but don't worry about it.
The picture is supposed to stand by itself, anyway.
