Battlespire was originally developed as an expansion for Daggerfall, however early in its development it was moved to a full stand-alone title by itself.

Its an action game, similar to a deep version of quake set in a medieval time. Quite fun, quite addictive, quit unique. As for it being worse than Oblivion, its all up to opinion - for it delievers a much differing experience, but I'd have to disagree - Battlespire over the years has lasted me much longer than the pale main title that is Oblivion.
