My guess is that Bethsheda is not saying much about part 5 so it doesnt generate too much hype.
The game of Two Worlds did this and the game bombed out when it was released.
The video game stores in the area that I live, actually had to refund almost 75% of the sales that it generated on its release date.
I was one of those saps that bought the game and regretted it, immediately.
Interesting, I never played Two Worlds, but it seems like one heck of a good game.
Anyways, it IS about time we get updates. We are like 18 months tops away from the release, and yet no screenie or anything. I think even Fallout had that SS with the Lone Wanderer and Dogmeat by this time.
I also know there will definitely be news by E3, but that's too far away. =/
I dunno about that... I can't see the game coming out before September 2010, and frankly I expect it in Spring 2011. They have never officially stated that they expect the game to be published in 2010. There have been one or two unofficial comments from Bethesda reps saying that they were aiming for 2010, but that's really just conjecture. I'll be really happy if it comes out in 2010, but none of us should get hung up if it doesn't come out until 2011.
Fallout 3 was released on 10/28/2008. In February of 2007, Bethesda said that Fallout 3 was "a fairly good ways away" and that more information would be revealed in the coming months. A teaser site for F2 was opened in early May of 2007, and it contained music and early concept art from the game. The first trailer was launched on 6/5/2007, almost 17 months before the October 2008 release. The second trailer was launched on 7/12/2007, 15.5 months before the release.
In other words, *if* they are really gearing towards a 2010 release, it seems likely that they will at least say
something about the game soon. They won't release the game later than mid-November, meaning the time line for F3 should be a good indicator of the time line for TESV. If they are aiming toward a late 2010 (October/November) release, we should hear some news in the next couple of months (even if it's relatively slim). If we don't hear anything between now and, say, July, I think it's safe to say we shouldn't expect the game until 2011, probably around the same time of the year as Oblivion came out (March/April 2011) -- if not even later.
If we don't get any news at all by the end of the summer (mid/late August) I'll be quite surprised. If this is the case, don't expect TESV until mid-2011 at the earliest.
