Morag Tong or Dark Brotherhood

Thu Apr 19, 2007 10:18 pm

Which orginization do you prefer? I think the Morag Tong is cooler than the Dark Brotherhood, I was wondering what you all thought?

I mean to me, the legally sanctioned, secretive and traditional assasins with honor codes who make up the Morag Tong are better than the nothing special, dark creepy guys who make up the DB. What do you think?

I'd say it's DB:MT 2:1 ;)

Maybe it's just because I love Daggerfall (in which I can join the DB).

I think the morag tong are way cooler, but u can have any opinion you want, I really won't try to convince you on this one.

Morag Tong? Only place I've heard of it, is the agent you set free in the mehrunes razor plugin. Are they the morrowind version of the DB?

Well, not quite. The Morag Tong is an assassins guild. Unlike the DB, though, they are legal. Each contract gives you a writ. If you get caught killing the mark, you can show the writ to a guard and they let you go, because the killing was sanctured by the empire. I don't know why they don't operate in Cyrodiil, though.

The Tribunal expansion for Morrowind added the Dark Brotherhood. So, there were both guilds. You're not able to join the DB, though. Instead, someone paid them to kill you. Your task then is to find their headquarter in Mournhold and kill them.

Back to topic: I voted for the DB. I like the fact that you are supposed to operate in the shadows.

The DB and the MT are pretty different in terms of philosiphy, one is legal and steeped in tradition, one is illegal and just plain evil.

With the DB there is a larger emphasis on stealth, and evading the law. With the MT it's more of a straightforward fight as opposed to moving in at the right time and the right place.

The MT dont operate in other parts of Tamriel because they are a Morrowind only thing, and the DB has the monoply outside of Morrowind, making it dangerous for MT agents outside of Morrowind. And the agents are known to track people down across the entire continent.

Although, it would make sense if the Morag Tong had safe rooms and agents outside of morrowind though.

Thanks for the info, guys. But it would have been cool if bethesda did add morag tong as a guild you can join. An idea for a new plugin?

I thought that was the case for the Cammona Tong.

No it's Morag Tong too, you can read the description. It says they operate in Morrowind, but that doesnt mean that its safe to move to another part of Tamriel because MT agents are known to chase their prey across the continent. But its dangerous outside of Morrowind for them since the DB and the MT are openly hostile towards each other. And the DB has amuch bigger market.

Working for the Dark Brotherhood in Daggerfall should teach you one thing, they don't like assassins who aren't working for them.

Hmm, I should see what happens when I refuse to join the DB....

Anyway, DB actually originated from MT, don't know the entire story though, check the wiki tamriel section if you want to know.

The Morang Tongs quests were so boring!

compared to what?

The rest of the game!

I don't think killing people is boring compared to the imperial cult and the tribunal temple.

It's kind of weird... I liked playing the DB storyline better (despite only going to one sancutary, maybe it's because I never actually played through the MT), but I voted for the tong.
It's a cooler thing. And they actually have principles.
It's also fun to go marching into some tavern saying, Mr. So-and-so, I have come to kill you!
And the fact that it's completely legal is also cool.
Although, I didn't like all the stupid obscure ashlander assassinations, I mean what's the fun in killing someone I would have killed anyway?
Although they did give me all those unused writs whih give you a get out of jail free pass with the guards even if its a completely unrelated crime...
