These monthly competitions are a chance for you to demonstrate your creativity and talents while getting a chance to know your fellow members and have a little fun. Each month is going to have a different theme and a different talent – and maybe a surprise or two! But only one member can wear the purple coins and fancy title of CotM Winner! Do you have what it takes?

The basic rules are as follows:


EMOTE, DARNIT!. As promised, this month's Competition of the Month is a smiley contest!

Make a TES-themed smiley (or set of smileys) for the different races found in Tamriel. The winner of this competition will not only get to wear the purple for a month, but have their smiley(s) put into the official UESP Forums smiley collection!

Smileys must conform to certain guidelines to be eligible:

• Must be 24 x 24 pixels or smaller (h x w, 15 x 15 preferred)
• Must be clean (content-wise)
• Must be saved in .png or .gif format
• Animated gifs must be 5kb or less

Here is a blank smiley you can use as a template if you would like:

Our schedule for the July event is as follows:
July 1 - 25: Competition begins! Start planning and send in those submissions!
July 26 - 30: Voting period – vote for your favorites!
July 31: Our winner is announced!
Please note that all times are determined by me, Musicman247, and therefore will run according to GMT -6/Central Standard Time. (Click here if you’re unsure when, exactly, that is!)

Remember that the CotM is not possible without you, so please participate, contribute, discuss, and vote!

Damnit! I don't have the software otherwise i would have done a Sheogorath smiley. Or a sweetroll one. Or one of Musicman kicking a spambot into a pit or one of Bread.

You could always use Gimp.

I can't run Gimp. For some reason, i'm unable to install it.

Wow, I think I just made a CotM entry that I actually really worked hard on and enjoyed making. Here it is. I may edit it throughout the month.

Have you tried Paint.NET? You won't be able to do anything animated, but it works for other things. Either that or MS Paint, depending on what operating system you have.


Anyways, I might have to enter this one. Depends on what I can come up with.

Those are great, dzio! It's funny that everyone's angry except the cute little Khajiit.

Thanks. I tried to make a smiling Bosmer, but he looked like a complete dork, so I went back to the grumpy version. Can't make the backgrounds transparent now though, I need to install something a bit more complex than Paint to do that... I'll put up the updated versions soon.

Well, here's my shot. Mostly just the result of fiddling around with Paint.NET. Nothing too great, really.



Could have done better, but even 24x24 is too small a space for me to work with. I need bigger. Preferably some paper rather than a digital "page."

Oh, goodie, time to break out the rest of my UESP smileys! I think the only one I ever posted was the Dunmer. I got to go and find them!

My Dunmer needs haaaaiiiirrrr. ;~; Hmmm... All of these smilies seem like they're male, maybe I should make a female one...

Well, it was fun while it lasted.

How is it that everyone has a happy version and sad version, but Khajiit and Altmet have happy and "muahahahahahha, mine is an evil laugh" version?

I really loved these smileys, especially them having different moods.

@dzio: because I have more, running the gamut of shocked, raspberry, and cool, but I didn't want to go crazy with the amount so I chose the two from each I felt stood out the most, 'cept orcs...I needed to have orc rage...

Here is what I have made, I might upload Argonian and Khajiit later but I'm not sure what I want the Argonian to do and the Khajiit might end up scratching the screen.
