Welcome one and all to the Competition of the Month! Please scroll down to the bottom of this first post for a list of entries!

These monthly competitions are a chance for you to demonstrate your creativity and talents while getting a chance to know your fellow members and have a little fun. Each month is going to have a different theme and a different talent – and maybe a surprise or two!

The basic rules are as follows:
Spoiler:
» Members can contribute pieces based on the talent (writing, art, screenshots, etc.) and theme during the submission period, after which no further entries will be accepted. Then we will vote via a poll to see who gets to wear that month’s winner’s badge!

» If you are posting artwork, please post a link from an off-forum website such as Photobucket; if you are posting a written piece, please hide it under a spoiler when creating a new post. This is to ensure that posts are not too long and the thread appears orderly for everyone. If you are unsure how to do either of these, don’t be afraid to ask!

» Be respectful and polite about your fellow members’ work. Anyone who says anything rude about another’s work will be hearing from a member of the Mod Squad and may not be allowed to participate in the next competition. There is no such thing as “good” or “bad,” and everyone has a unique way of demonstrating his or her talents. Enjoy the variety!

» All members are welcome to join, including moderators. Don’t forget that we’re members, too!

Our schedule for the May event is as follows:
April 25 – April 29: Setting up and voting on the theme.
April 30: The chosen theme is announced!
May 1 – May 24: Competition begins! Start planning and send in those submissions!
May 25 – May 30: Voting starts.
May 31: Our winner is announced!
Please note that all times are determined by me, Avron the S’wit, and therefore will run according to GMT -4/Eastern Standard Time. (Click here if you’re unsure when, exactly, that is!)

For the month of May we’re going to let all the forum writers show us what they’ve got. What, exactly, are they going to write? That’s for members to decide! That’s right: you guys are going to decide what this month’s theme will be! Throw out your suggestions, agree with others, or tell me why your idea is the best, and on April 29 the Tea Party Moderators will see which idea has the most votes or which we think is most interesting, should there not be an obvious winner.

Update: A theme has been decided...or shall we say, two themes! For this month's Competition of the Month, your submission should be about:

Thank you, MoonRose and Arch-Mage Matt for your awesome suggestions! :D

When you submit your stories, remember to put them behind a spoiler tag - simple click the "spoiler" button when you're creating a new post (above the text box) and write or copy/paste your story in between. Remember that we have to read your stories, so try not to make them much longer than 5 single spaced pages in a program such as Microsoft Word.

So, good people of the forums, show us what you're made of!

===============================================

A list of links to each of the entries:
Hadrianus - short story
BlackavarJr- haiku
mars - short story
Wolfie - letter story
JVElEven - diary story
Molag Bal - "Descent" story
The-Shadow-One - short story
VirtualWeasel - short story

===============================================

(This fun event is hosted by yours pinkfully. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them within this thread or by sending me a PM by selecting the appropriate button below my signature. Have some suggestions on what you'd like to see? Head over to the ideas thread and join in on the discussion!)

I'd love to join again! This time I'll hopefully be able to actually submit something. But I'm not sure yet. Exams :|

This may be a lame idea but what about a story about what would happen to you yourself personally if you were suddenly dropped into an elder scrolls world? Like if you were walking along and suddenly a portal opens up and sucks you in. And then write about all the strange, interesting, scary things that might happen to you there since you are not actually from that world. I dont know its just an idea...

does that count do i get my cube back now?

I like that as well.

I could imagine a half insane argonian being dropped into the real world would be rather interesting.

I think this sounds like an awesome idea.

However I like the reverse as well especially if it is a comedy. haha imagine the character openning his bag and pulling out a scroll with his skills and levels on it HAHAHAHA

I like the idea. I can imagine myself walking around in Vvardenfell or Cyrodiil... and that's actually very real in the game, isn't it? You do identify with the character you've made, don't you?

Does it have to be restricted to TES and writing? While I like the ideas, I'm not the best writer. I have nice ideas (I think), but I have trouble writing them down.

I think this month's competition is writing only, isn't it? Even if it is, though, there are still future competitions.

It's listed under the 'basic rules' spoiler.

I thought those were the basic rules of the COTM, but it could be narrowed down to only a "talent" on a certain month. I'm not sure. Avron will be here soon enough to clear that up.

No and no. CotMs do not have to be limited to The Elder Scrolls, although in the spirit of the forums probably more than a few will be so. This is a TES forum, after all.

This May competition is for writing only, but each month will be a mix of writing, drawing, screenshots, music...who knows what else! So if you're discouraged about not being a writer, don't fret: you'll get your chance next month.

To clear two things up:
* - The rules listed on the spoiler are the basic rules for each competition.
* - Ideas suggested here will not go in vain. If your idea isn't chosen or popular this month, you may very well see it in another month's competition. I am secretly recording all ideas in these threads and in the ideas thread, so don't feel ignored. (And don't be afraid to PM me your great ideas, too!)

And keep on voting and suggesting, everyone! You have a few more days yet. You guys are so creative I can already tell it's going to be a tough competition. So start thinking about all those entries - the more people that partake in the fun, the more cookies I bake out of happiness. It's true! 8)

Thanks for clarifying, Av. Hmm, I'll try and see if I can cook something up.
I'm not expecting anything, lulz, I'm a terrible writer with good ideas...

I'm not a writer so I won't join, but if I can vote anyway I'd vote for MoonRose's suggestion. That would certainly be interesting to read.
