So here goes one more: Is the Collector's Edition worth it? It comes with three DLC pieces, but costs 10€ more.

The two equipment items (Bergen's [sp?] Honor and Final Reason) are nice, and unlike most bonus items, they'll last throughout most of the game (they do get outclassed later on, but it takes quite a while), while the Fomari Tome adds some early helpful stats points when used. None of them are game changing though.

I thought the cloth map that came with it was pretty cool too. If you're into that kind of thing, the CE delivers, but if you could go either way, save the money for some of the main-stream dlc. If you buy new you'll get Stone Prisioner for free, but of the other two that are around that price (unless my conversion is way off), Warden's Keep is nearly essential; it adds a much needed party storage chest to the game (once you complete the quest, that is). Return to Ostagar is also pretty good, and has some nice loot. I'd really suggest you save your money for one of those if it's an issue.

Got the game. It's brilliant. Quite annoyed at the fact that the Stone Prisoner code expired April 30th. Pretty dumb, tbh. If you're giving something away for free, make it available for at least 1 year...

Other than that, I'm a bit over 15 hours in, and still need to go to the elves and dwarves. I have to say Bioware knows how to create characters and stories. Just a bit underwhelmed by the 'Origins' part. Played as a Human Noble, and it was quite small. I was expecting something like 5 or 6 hours long. Still, even having it in is absolute genius.

The Origins are more like an introduction and you'll see references to your Origin during the rest of the game. Your Origin even affects some important choices and all the possible endings ;).

We definitely need a female Dwarf companion though, it just feels weird to romance Morrigan/Leliana/Zevran as a male Dwarf. Don't know why :?.

I lost my copy a few weeks ago but I'm thinking of buying it again :).

Also its pretty funny to watch the love scenes with a dwarf ;)

To nyk45. The code might work because my boyfriend entered his blood armor code (he forgot he had it) three weeks ago and it still work. Might be worth a shot!

Haven't tried the armour one yet, but the stone prisoner one sure didn't work.

@Josjie
Yep, I know. I'll probably play through the story six times, because of the replay value. I was just expecting something more...substantial. It's still one of the best things about the game.

New responses!

nyk: Yes, I'm rather unhappy with their treatment of DLC and made it pretty clear on Bioware's message boards before they decided they didn't want me around any more. It's a completely stupid system to try to encourage people not to buy used copies of games (or pirated, in the case of PC, but lol at the code stopping that.) The game seems really good at the 15 hour mark, but I think your opinion will still hit some more peaks and valleys before you finish.

Josjie: Why a female dwarf to romance? And what if you're playing a female dwarf? You don't get to make out with whatshisface.

HatofMadness: Depends entirely on what you like. If you like a game similar to Dungeon Siege, but heavily driven by story choices, a la KOTOR, then yes, no questions asked. If you're not big on games that require you to be heavily tactical, with questionably cludgy combat AI, and a lot of game mechanics left underexplained, then no.

It is a shame about being no female dwarf companions...it would have been cool if shales best ending would have been a dlc. I guess they tried to make for it in awakening with two dwarfs but alas no romance options...

Hmm, that's fair enough. I suppose Shayle is a female dwarf, even if you wouldn't describe Shale as such. So see? We do have a female dwarf in the party, sort of. However, with her attitude, I don't think I'd want a romance option even if she hadn't been made into a golem.

Bought this game sunday have become obsessed by it, it actually stalled my billionth oblivion playthrough to a halt! (which is saying something!)

Started a human noble warrior (Creative i know) and have already poured 50 hours so far into my first playthrough, and i'm just about to start the Landsmeet  This is the same curse oblivion presented me with....allow me to wander, and i will wander. I think the thing that really draws me into this game though is the characters... they all are so wonderfully realized and each party member feels unique, especially after having been used to oblivion conversations and characters after so long. The combat is enjoyable, although i am playing on PS3 so i realize that limits my options for combat anyway.

Romancing Morrigan with Leliana on the side, and accidentally initiated romance with zevran...so it seems my character is a little conflicted at the moment

am looking forward to the rest of the game and finally managed to

Spoiler:
Kill Flemeth today! And my warrior got the killing blow so that about trippled the epicness

...i have a bad feeling about my gaming-moderation plan

It's very easy to do that :) Be friendly and he's suddenly your lover! :o "You say what now Zevran?"

He always reminds me of Puss in Boots... that makes my laugh...

Soloing on Nightmare difficulty.

I'm amazed at how many people on forums said this game was easy to play on nightmare, and that it was only a mild challenge if you soloed it on nightmare. I had enough trouble beating the game on normal. I'm sure my use of tactics could have been refined, but I thought I had a pretty good strategy...my characters just very rarely executed very well.

I wondered the same thing. If you go to the official forums, the community seems to be split in two groups: people who have no trouble soloing the game on Nightmare and people who struggle with Normal or Hard difficulty. I've soloed the game four times and it was challenging but not that difficult.

If you solo the game, there are two abilities in this game that you'll hate. You'll hate them so much that some battles can take you up to 30 reloads and you'll yell at your enemies in anger because they keep using these abilities . It can be really, really frustrating. I'm talking about Overwhelm and Crushing Prison. Both abilities end the battle for you. There's no way to defend yourself against these attacks and there's also no way to counter them.

For that reason, by far the toughest battle in this game is the random ambush where you're attacked by at least a dozen wolves. Took me over 20 reloads before I managed to kill them all. Area of Effect spells were my friend ;). Another very difficult enemy is Uldred. He keeps using Crushing Prison on you. It took me a dozen reloads or so before I managed to kill him.

Grab can be very frustrating at first. In the Ogre battle (Tower of Ishal), I almost gave up on soloing because it took me eight reloads to beat him. However, that's the only tough battle with Grab that I can think of (and you can just kite him if you want). All the other Ogres you'll encounter later on are easy prey.

It's kinda funny that the dragons, who are supposed to be the toughest enemies in the game, are a piece of cake. I've soloed all dragons with a mage, a DW warrior, a DW thief and a bloodmage and I always killed him/her in 1 or 2 tries. Again, Grab can be annoying but you can use ranged attacks and try to evade the Grab ability.

Spoiler:
Yes you can fire those ballistas at the Archdemon. To be honest I've never used them. Don't know why. I also never use any reinforcements until that last battle, where I usually don't need them. But just for fun I sometimes summon the Mages to help me out.

I actually had an easier time soloing on Nightmare difficulty than playing with a group of 4 on the same difficulty. Soloing forces you to micromanage your character, which will make him/her a lot stronger. You need to find the best set of equipment and plan ahead. Don't raise your attributes randomly. Before I started soloing this game, I spent hours reading various articles on the internet to learn more about this game. You won't need some attributes. Some talents and spells are useless. With that knowhow, it'll be a lot easier.

It's kinda hard for me to give some tips in general. So if you need any tips, feel free to post some info about your character and party and I'll try to help you out.

I thought about soloing but then i figured i was going to lose a part of the game, I usually like to enjoy the story and i can't do that if I'm the only one killing darkspawn. Though i have to agree that i did'nt find the game particularly difficult. The wolves were hellish for my rogue, but that's about it

Some tips in general:

- Spacebar spam! If you die a lot, try to pause the game more often.
- Don't rely too much on potions. Even while soloing I rarely used them. They can be useful but if you need 20 potions to make it through a fight, you're doing something wrong.
- Keep your mages and archers protected. Don't use AoE spells on party members (avoid friendly fire!).
- Use your surroundings! If you're attacked in the open, try to find a narrow walkway. There are wooden platforms everywhere with a stair leading up to them. Those are really easy to defend.
- Don't activate your sustained abilities at the start of a battle. They'll lower your action points. Start a battle by using as many talents/spells as possible, then when you run out of mana, activate your sustained abilities (not too many because you don't want to run out of mana!).

I really want to play this game. My computer can't run it that good though. Can play it, but graphics aren't the best.

Should I get for Xbox 360? My friend has it for Xbox 360, and it doesn't look too bad. 's just that everyone says it's best for PC because of the tactical overview.

Dragon Age for the 360 is a bit easier, the graphics are not as good as the PC version and combat is a bit less tactical. I prefer the PC version but the 360 version is still a great game. So if your PC can't run it, get it for the 360. You should be able to pick it up for 20-30€.

Not un-playable ugly, but more "I wish I had a better PC so I can run this game with optimal graphics"...

I don't think it wuld be a good game for the 360, i mean it would be more hack'n'slash and not as tactical. but still an awesome game, i would just recommend it for PC

I only have it for the 360 - and my mage can really stratigize when he's off on his own, his teammates fighting up close :) I think it depends on who plays it. (Plus, on the XBOX, you get a bigger screen)

I have a question, for anyone: Who's you're favorite teammate? Mine would be either Wynne or Shale.
