I found some big hairy pokemon out in the forest last week. I think I don't have enough badges though because my pokeballs didn't work....Then they started charging me.

Anyway. Team Mystic is starting to take the gyms in town and hold them, my Flareon is now 700 CP, my Vileplume is almost 700. ANd I'm farming candies to evolve some of my higher base Eevee's and Staryu's.

You've got a vileplume? Around here I've only seen one oddish. Though we seem to have mankeys aplenty. Arcanines and Rapidashes tend to control the gyms. I just face-check them with my (pretty low CP) Graveler Bros. (Essentially, three gravelers that manage to take down much stronger fire types out of sheer typing advantage.)

The exeggutor looks silly, but I love it. I'm just excited to see where some of these pokémon go. (Pun not intended, but happily done.) Maybe they'll buff ice types if they're adding ninetales and snowslash. I'd be very happy about that.

I'm interested in seeing how the limit breaks (as I'll call them) will play out into the competitive scene.

So from the looks of it they're getting rid of the gyms and replacing them with islands?.. kinda?

Different Pokemon types with different looks? That was done before by other Pokemon fangames years ago. The ones I know that do so are Pokemon Zeta/Omicron and Insurgence with their Delta Pokemon. And that didn't even event Deltas, the TCG did as far as I know.

Also, do these replace the base Pokemon in the game or are the classic Mons still available?

Also, I see "you get an unfinished game released to you and you have buy DLC to finish the game! Mwhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!". It easily feels like this island mechanic could include it.

I think if a pokémon has an Alola form and you want the classic form you have to get it via transfer or trade.

People who transfer will probably breed lots of them, so getting classics shouldn't be too hard.

I haven't seen anything about this. Got a source?

Anyway, got a beedrill and a Rhyhorn today! I had to evolve my kakuna though, which is low CP at the moment. Finding a higher level Kakuna has been impossible. At least I know that the CP leap between a Kakuna and a Beedrill is pretty big.

So, I made this earlier today before going to work. It's hastily done, but any Undertale fans should get the joke:

Since I now got a smart phone, I now can get and have Pokemon Go. The game seems like a novel concept despite its dearth of content. However, given the F2P model, it seems quite extortionate and there's a dearth of PokeStops in my immediate area. Only about 1 in my area (it's not too far of a walk though).

When are they rolling out Gen 2 Mons? I want a Feraligatr :D .

If I was to nitpick, I'd say they should have replaced Dog with 'Mon, or maybe Dragon. :P

I would have gone the whole 9 yards, making it black and white, but I was going to be late for work as it was. I'm glad I wasn't the only person to think of it.

And for King, I don't know. I hope they release all the gets over time, I just think it'd make the "catch 20 of a species to make one evolved game play a lot more frustrating when you have hordes of pidgeys, hoot hoots, tailow, starley, pidoves and fletchlings.

I feel like that would be a total non-issue if only they'd gone with a wild Pokemon battling system instead of doing the whole 'catch/transfer for candy' thing. Like, you already have the battling infrastructure in place for Gym battles, all you have to do is integrate Pokeball-throwing into that and you're good, and you don't have to code any of that candy stuff at all.

Then again, that's just a piece of the puzzle, just one of the elements that makes me wish they'd tried to make it more like the main series games from the outset. Let me just say, I really like the Gym system, and Pokestops and lures and all that. But no wild Pokemon battles? No EXP for Pokemon, so even when you defeat a gym your party doesn't actually benefit? I dunno, I just feel like they made it too team- and trainer- centric, not enough focus on the Pokemon. You end up having to treat your Pokemon like disposable tools, never able to truly train them, always ready to transfer them as soon as you find a higher-level one. I'm still hoping that they'll change it in the future, though. Just putting in trainer battles and trading (which I'm pretty sure they have said are coming) will go a long way towards that.

So I'm guessing the fanbase can actually make GRAMPS now out of villainous team names now?

Hoping Team Skull are more down to earth than the post-gen1 teams. Remember when all we had to worry about was the Pokémon Mafia? Argonanza remembers.

Plumeria is bae.

I was hoping the villains would be downer to Earth as well. Something tells me that could be (or they may not, but that would betray what we know about them).

There are so many captions I want to put on that move. "When you sleep in and don't want to be stuck with Pikachu." "When you overflowed a public toilet and need to get as far away as possible." (Inspired by a true story after my friend and I bought Pokémon cards and he used the bathroom right as the shop was closing...) "When you see a gym has just turned Valor after you captured it." I can go on.

Alolan Rattata brings a certain song to mind...
