Mega Pidgeot? Oh my sweet Birdy Jesus.

It's good that they're giving the quintessential bird Pokemon some love, they seem to be out shone by the other regions' birds, so this certainly helps it out.

BTW Mega Glalie and Steelix were announced not too long ago. Mega Glalie will be my personal Mega of choice when OR/AS come out as it get's STAB refrigerate explosion and double edge which is totally ridiculous(ly OP).

Is the new game any good? I was originally kinda turned off due to the fact that the game reuses like 75% of the character models/animations from X and Y (imagine if other game series did that, there would be riots in the streets) and I heard they didn't really fix stuff like the nonstop water sections that would turn you into a repel maniac.

Why would they fix what ain't broken? It's a remake, it's meant to recreate what they had and add stuff, not take away water sections from a game that takes place on an island...

I would say that it is fun and good. Complaining that they reused the Pokemon models from X and Y is silly, considering that there was nothing really wrong with them that I saw. They brought back the Exp share from X&Y, which if you use it, it will certainly speed things up. (Personally, I don't. Makes over-leveling too easy.) But then again, I loved my gen 3 games, so whether or not you want to trust my bias is your decision.

Because no other series reuses models for weapons and such... But I haven't seen any trainer models that are just copy and pasted from X&Y, so no worries there. (For the life of me I can't see why that'd be a problem anyway...)

I guess I'm the kind of person that likes to see developers push themselves and try to make each game in their series markedly better than the last, not re-using a lot of stuff to make the job easier. Also, the whole water world thing forcing encounters on you 24/7 is, at least in my book, bad game design. Just saying 'it's on an island so it doesn't count' doesn't make it any better. Same goes for the way each game is so similar to the last, reusing the same engine to the point of over familiarity, etc, just saying 'it's pokemon so it doesn't count' is kinda silly.

That being said, that's just my opinion, each to his own. I did enjoy X and Y for what it's worth, so I might get the new ones if they ever drop in price. Also, is customization gone? I heard it was, kind of an odd step backwards if so.

Sorry, it still seems silly to me to expect a groubd breaking feature from a remake that very obviously tries to play on nostalgia. It does have some new features though, like the "Dex Nav" that shows you what Pokemon are available in that route and acts like a psuedo checklist for which ones you have. You can also battle quite few trainers multiple times, and the story has been changed to accommodate Mega evolutions. But look at it this way, there are relatively few caves in the Hoenn region, so the water makes up for it if you think about it that way.

Though, out of curiosity, do you read Ign? Because as a result of their review for Alpha Sapphire there are a lot of jokes flying around that you're complaint reminds me of:

IGN is a gaming site, that's where my knowledge of it ends. That being said, I actually forgot it was a remake, I guess it makes sense it'd stick to the formula so much. Think I'll just pass on it then.

I actually counted how many Aqua members I fought after him (not counting Admin rematches) and got a little under that number, but I may have dodged a couple in the base.

Meh, still only have the 3 shinies I got in Y. Oh, and shiny Metagross, but he doesn't count.

We're talking about how many shinies we have?

Guys, you need to go back to Gen 4 and learn about chaining. Works super well and I have like ~70 shinies to speak for it.

It'll improve your life so much.

Yeah except it's a massive pain in the ass and it's painfully easy to screw up.

I'm still MMing for a Mareep now and then. Every once in a while I like to hit the FS and wander around for a while. I think I've found two or three shinies just screwing around in the Friend Safari.

Looks like just "More X/Y".

Also, that water starter, blah. I haven't seen a water starter design I've liked since Piplup. I guess I'll go with Litten then.

The series is really overdue for another Colosseum style game.

Some more details and art of the starters.

Popplio is growing on me, actually. It's goofy lookin', sure, but I think it works. At least it can't possibly turn out as bad as Oshawott's line.

I still follow the Pokemon series, but have no interest in playing the newer games (lack of a 3DS and 3DS Powersaves for starters). They seem lackluster to me and not really worth my time. I stopped playing the new main series games after Black/White 2 (which were far better than their predecessors B/W). My only interest in the series nowadays is following it on Serebii and Bulbapedia and playing the fangames (at times). Oh, and Feraligatr, the best Pokemon ever.

Serebii is where I get my quick, before release/shortly after release info on Pokemon. Bulbpedia is my source for more in depth and long term information.

I've been transferring legendaries from Alpha Sapphire to X via the GTS. Put up a [&@%!] pokemon, switch games, trade with the legendary, rinse and repeat.

Sometimes other people decide to trade their legendaries before me. I've got 3 Cobalions and 2 Thunduruseseseses now.

Back when I was younger, I would use my Action Replays to cheat for rare Pokemon and give them to people for almost free. I might have had them battle me or something, but the price for these Pokemon was very low (only a required trade Mon. Which could be anything). I didn't care as I could just generate these Pokemon whenever I wanted. And people got rare Pokemon and I helped them, both added bonuses.
